Del, happy birthday mate. I have had 2 beers already by way of joining you in celebration 👍😁
Hi All. My Grumpy here again!
It's my birthday today, so I'm even fecking older!
But..............
Just did an 8 lap Crit Race. 41 starters. I came 16th. I didn't get dropped from the start and was in the lead group for 6 laps!
Got slightly gapped going into lap 7 with one other guy and that was it. We rode together to the finish. He tried to jump. I thought he'd gone too early so let him go, put on more power, rounded the corner and beat him on the sprint to the line!
What was it @Norry1 was saying? He think he's King Canute? Let's hold back that sea!!!
I believe that's consistent with what I've read on physiology. VO2 max and related markers can be sigificantly improved in a relatively short period of time, but any gains are quickly lost if training doesn't continue. In contrast the endurance side takes much longer to build up, but the improvements are much slower to dissipate if you stop training.Sounds like your experience on a VO2 max plan with Sufferfest was much the same as mine @bobinski. I did a (10 week?) plan earlier in the year which did improve my top end power (5 min, 1 min etc). However I seemed to lose it all when I was off the bike for a month. Now I’m concentrating more on endurance, with (hopefully) the Majorca 312 this year and LEJOG in mind next year. I’ll keep doing the odd Zwift race to keep a bit of sharpness (plus it’s fun) but I’m not too worried if I’m not hitting the power numbers I was previously.

Its only up chalet Reynard
You've even got the right number of candles!
I hope they're not like Bologna where they are race routes only. It would be so nice if they started linking some of the routes together (maybe via a virtual airport!) so you could start in London then ride to Harrogate without having to close down Zwift.
I thought it was short a couple of dozenYou've even got the right number of candles!
