I keep meaning to try a Masters or Vets race at some time, but can't do tonight.

Road club virtual TT on Wednesday nights at the moment, but that will probably end if BC sanction road events from 4 July, which looks possible.

Once that happens, I may join you!

Cool. There are also specific Masters Races on Zwift which have age based categories (ZHR). But tonights is a normal Cat with BMTR Age results posted separately.

You should have a bash at the real life Masters races. I'll be in your Cat next year (assuming you'll be under 65).

I'm desperately close to going out the other side of that Cat!

The WTRL ITT series I was doing had Vet handicaps posted alongside the scratch results as well.

Ok.

Time to kick off entries for next Wednesday's (24 June) CC TTT Hare and Hounds Meet Up.

I've put together a table below with the answers I had from people before last week's event. I've left the teams based on last week's riders, but we're a bit shorter in C and D this time round, so we may end up having to shuffle people down.

Can you check your status and let me know if you need to change it. Just a reminder, where there's a question mark, your answer was probably no or probably yes. Where there is no entry, I didn't get a reply.

Sadly I can't make next Wednesdays race, I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the D team 'victory' last Friday.
Hopefully more will be organised in the future... 👍

You can change me to "Yes (question mark)", because I would say that I'm currently 70% likely to make it - not a guarantee, but a bit more optimistic than I was this time last week.

DelC I Will send out the meet-up invite this evening. We can use that to record who is going - if everyone can accept or decline the invite as soon as possible - you can Always change your mind later - so if you plan on racing then just accept the invite now and if something crops up then change your response as and when. .

Bit of a random question.

Do any of you sometimes make the prime aim of a ride to hit a PB for a particular time? I ask because I do this now and then and I try to make this year's best (critical) power curve better than the previous year.

As an example - my main aim riding today was to try and beat my all-time 5 minute power. I picked a hill climb I knew took me just over 5 minutes. The Gods were with me so I beat my target by 10W and as a bi-product beat my best 3 and 4 minute powers as well.

Am I the only loony that does this?
I do this outdoors all the time but as you point out there are too many variables such as traffic and wind direction - I always blame a head wind if I’m slower than my best.
I rarely use Zwift segments - mainly because I think my PBs are tainted by my bkool trainer days. for now I would be blaming my Neo2 reading lower than the bkool and even the assiomas. You also have Zwift changing algorithms like the jungle dirt section affecting times.
I probably should delete all Zwift rides pre-Neo2. Has anyone else done this to ensure a level playing field for their Strava segments?

Thanks @IrishAl ..... however, I clearly didn't make my opening question clear enough - as everyone is answering a different question than I thought I posed

Let me try again.

Does anyone ever ride aiming specifically to try and beat their previous best power for a specific time period? For example my previous best power for 5 minutes was 352W which I did in April 2019. I went out on Monday to try and beat it - and was pleased that I managed to achieve 362W. Just wondered if I was the only one doing this?
