@Tommy, you need to work on your sprint numbers. You have plenty of power to hang with the front runners.

Zwift reacts better to give you a speed boost by dumping a huge amount of power for a 5 seconds, then just try and hang on instead of sustained power.:okay:

@IrishAl I’d sold myself on the idea of trying to lead you out at the end. Then with about 250meters to go I found myself sat in front of you and thinking this is perfect! But when that icon pinged up above your head and I hadn’t already launched I knew I was in a bit of trouble 😄. I was surprised to finish within a second of you in the end because you absolutely flew past me like a rocket. I think maybe we both found ourselves out of position slightly with 500 to go? I’d of like to have been a bit further up the field for sure. Legs in the front group to the very end 👍. The only way is up for Michael now too!

I have found that unless you are in the top 10-12 going into the final 600/800m it is very difficult to get a good placing in the finish. I recall ending up on the front earlier than planned. I blew the aero helmet too early - it was used up before the big effort in last 200m and looking at my sprint data I was at top end for just 10sec whereas I could probably have held higher power for 15-20s.

good to see you so well up in the sprint Tommy. If you hadn’t been so helpful I’d nearly say you could have took me yesterday. It’s So much more fun doing these events as a team so I must try and get involved in some of the Series that you guys are targeting as CChat Team.

I’ve done a few races with team zsun. But to be completely honest I don’t know them, and I was trying my hardest to stick one on them as I’m sure they were me! All part of the fun 😄. So looking out for someone else in a race isn’t really my forte either. But it was good yesterday. Shame I couldn’t do more really.
Generally speaking I thinkp (know) you’ve got a stronger kick than me so I’m fairly sure you would have me covered unless I really time my launch to perfection and you miss time yours. Maybe I came back slightly on the guys ahead of me at the end of the sprint yesterday, but the damage was done by then.
I’m definitely putting out more power than I need to in these races but I’m always kind of torn between getting a result and getting the most out of the workout.
I think I should really be doing more to support zsunr in the series’ they choose to do. But I’ll definitely try and see out this series first.

Edu who won the Cat B race has his live stream at

interesting that at times it looks like he is not pedalling yet nice power numbers hmm 🧐 e.g. at 12.47 and also when he jumps off the bike Ala Julian alaphillipe 1 second after winning the sprint. I’m usually hanging over the bars searching for the defib.

Just looks like a bit of a lag from trainer to Zwift (and maybe 3 second average power display?), or possibly a lag from the camera on him to the zwift video on screen to me. E.G. watch the start of the race and the lag from him getting out of the saddle to sprint off the line and his power number actually rising - same thing.

As for how fresh he looks at the end - yeah that's just rude!

He is flying very close to the Cat A boundary (true for most who regularly win their category races I guess!) and I did spot his weight has increased by a kilo since Saturday - which will be useful in keeping his w/kg down

Can't take part in the DBR Boerkop Cykler Cup tonight, real life has got in the way...!!
Good luck to all CC 'ers taking part.

Hoping to ride the British Cycling Time Trial on Thursday lunchtime instead... 👍
It'll be my first race as a cat. C
I've been doing the Thursday British Cycling Time Trial for the last few weeks and should be there tomorrow. All cats are on the road together so I may see you there :okay:

Is this the 12:20 on Tempus Fugit? I've just signed up too so hoping I can make it :okay: Not done a TT with no drafting for ages so should be interesting
Yep that's the one @Whorty 👍.

The race of truth. It's been a good indicator for me as an indicator of getting back to fitness - my numbers have steadily grown from 3.6 to 3.9 W/kg over the 16km, so heading in the right direction ^_^

I'm racing at 6.45 tonight if anyone wants to play. https://www.zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=886021

It is the 6Points Mallorca GGCC Race and is being used by the British Masters Turbo Racing club (BMTR).
I keep meaning to try a Masters or Vets race at some time, but can't do tonight.

Road club virtual TT on Wednesday nights at the moment, but that will probably end if BC sanction road events from 4 July, which looks possible.

Once that happens, I may join you!
