That was awful, felt rested, but had upset tummy. Just couldn't get HR up, legs felt like tree trunks, trying to push any power. I instead opted to just spin away and see how it went- terrible RS went down and everyone else pissed off up Boxhill never to be seen again. Poor fella behind me was 10 mins down on my finish time

Have a lovely Christmas everyone. Try not to overdo indulge :okay:

I had a mare as well. Kicked the crap out of Stephen up Fox, but he caught me back just around the start of the drag up to Leith and then I drafted him until the steep part, where I smahed it for a minute, but then died. I was trying to break him, but blew myself up.
It happens.

There was one guy in my race who was ranked 380ish. He was in the lead pack, began to drop off half way up the first climb, stopped and left the event. He may not have won but would have been top 6

As long as I breathe, I attack.
After zwift not reading the sensors even though it could see them i found the ant + dongle and had to reinstall drivers for it , this took me a good half hour of fiddling to get it to work then zwift promptly crashed again half way though .I have now done a clean reinstall to see if that solves the issue .

I am toying with the idea of using the power meter-equipped road bike on the dumb turbo trainer in the Zwift pain corner until my Victory smart trainer arrives.

As mentioned previously, I would not be prepared to lug the bike up and down the stairs 3 or 4 times a week to do my outdoor rides.

But... I just remembered that I have a MTB that I have only ridden about 4 or 5 times this year!

So, de-mothball the MTB and ride that outdoors for the next 6-8 weeks? I would probably leave the big knobbly tyres on it, but I have a pair of old slicks that could be put on if I chose to.

Oh, and I would stop being such a tight-arse, give up on the 2 months free Zwift use, and just subscribe for a year now.

Actually, maybe I can access those 2 free months BEFORE the Victory gets here!? I will go and check...

Or if it's just about riding and getting a feel for virtual cycling, you could use Training Peaks Virtual for the next 2 months which is free, then just switch to Zwift once you get your new trainer. Just an idea.
Edit: Rouvy and Bkool also do free trials for a week at a time. Take advantage until you get to Zwift

I just searched for info...

Jetblack are closed until the NY so I couldn't ask them directly.

Someone on Reddit said that the 2 free months are accessible via a code on a card in the trainer's box, AND... it can only be used by first-time subscribers so I couldn't use it to extend a 1 year subscription!

So, yes, playing with TPV for a couple of months does sound like a good option!

I am busy for the next few days so I will give it a go at the weekend.

Oh, hang on... Can I install TPV on my Apple TV box? (You don't need to answer that because I am dashing upstairs now to find out! I'll report back later this evening!)

Yes, TPV is now on the ATV (so many acronyms). I've not tried it yet myself on ATV but come mid jan when my Zwift subs lapse I'll go on TPV for a bit to see how it is.

I am downloading it right now!

It warns that a first generation remote control is needed (which sounded very odd!) but I found reassuring posts that modern Siri remotes are fine.

While my snail-speed broadband is doing its thing I had an idea... I abandoned my plan to balance the Zwift TV on speakers on their stands because the stands are wobbly! But...

...I have a small office desk in my spare bedroom which has not been used since my left leg clotted 12 years ago (I can't sit upright now for more than about 20 minutes before my leg starts swelling up!) It struck me that the desk might just fit in the space where I want to put the TV. It does, with 1 cm to spare! So... TV on top of desk, and build little shelves under the desktop for the amp and speakers. There is a retractable keyboard shelf which would be handy for my tablet running Zwift Companion.

Ooh, main download complete. Just downloading extra 'dynamic content'.

I'll be back shortly with some screenshots!

Merry Xmas everyone , Just done Alex race 5 in the pen surprisingly, 3 of us got to the bottom of Leith hill 1 dropped with a mechanical ,the other guy shot into a lead of 6 secs , I just rode tempo and reeled him in then dropped him by 7 secs which he pulled back and we had a sort of sprint from 150mts out which I won but nearly missed judged the line as the finish was just after the banner , 1 out of 1 on zp . ZRS neatly up to 400 . Happy that I set prs on both climbs ,7.43 fox an 7.57 Leith
Edit zrs now down to 398

i was right next to the open back door and had a fan blowing on me im a bit damp
I am thinking of running my dehumidifier as well as a fan. The only problem is that it uses 200+ W so it might make the overheating problem worse!

Keep excess sweat off your turbo bike!!!

I got TPV installed. I had to register for a TP account. You might spot me as ColinJTod on there, should I ever make a public appearance!

TPV seems to work ok, and what I saw in my quick recce looked kinda familiar...!

That will do me for now. Festering Festive activities for the next 3 days, a couple more road rides on the power meter bike, then I will finish off pain corner, and ride about in TPV to see what I make of it.

Have a nice Christmas, y'all!

Put a towel over your handlebars and headset, wear cycling gloves and have 2 or 3 fans.

I was really surprised to hear so many people don't wear gloves for indoor. Having got used to them it feels wrong to me to be on a bike without them.
