Just watching the end of the IRL race 'live' on ZwiftPower .... looks like some pretty amazing performances :notworthy: @mjd1988 may have got himself well and truly upgraded to B. @BurningLegs and @<Tommy> are a gnats chuff away from A. @Del C and @peterob finished together. @bobinski finished a race without falling off his bike.

Looks like I missed some 'fun'. Well done everyone :okay:

Another meltdown tonight , the loft where I do my training was like an oven , I should have gone IRL instead of racing . Had the window open , fans on an hour before , soaked a mesh base layer and cycling cap in cold water but after 20 minutes I literally just overheated .
Well done everyone , especially @IrishAl , have you sewn your league up now ?
Does anyone have any experience with air cooler rather than fans ?

Cheers Carl, sorry you couldn't join in the fun.

Really enjoyed that. Punchy climbs and big packs to hide in!

Started as a "well sure I'll just try and hang with front group past the initial burst" to "right, best 20 mins effort" then at 25 mins I was dreaming of glory...then dropped like a sack of spuds. @Del C and @peterob were in a group and i found a bit of energy to cling onto that one, not sure I would've without the friendly faces!

Looks like Al had some good support at the pointy end and will grab some more league points.

New ftp 289 and I'm trapped in the b's for a wee while. Thanks for the push to join the b race guys. Haven't felt that tired in a while, and needed it after a particularly mondayish monday.

Great debut Michael.

Smashed your way into B cat with that race!

Really enjoyed that. Very fast start and I stayed with it! Split came around 10 minutes in, not long before the 10% climb, but a fairly big group formed which @peterob @Alongo and I were part of, which kept the pace going.

I normally hate New York but tonight I seemed to cope with the rolling course as well as I've ever done. It was hard but maybe the TTs I've been doing are starting to pay off.

After Andy dropped back into the furnace of his loft, the group reduced in size but then we caught Michael's group. You seemed to still be strong.

I should have pushed harder in the sprint for the line. I think I was too happy with making it to the line with the group. I'm not sure it would have made any difference, but I knew afterwards I should have given it a bigger go than I did.

And it was a big field tonight so congratulations to @IrishAl on getting the Team Ireland league off the ground. I think I'll be back!

Thanks for the support tonight chaps. It was great to see so many of you lined up tonight. Well done Michael on the FTP increase. I remember when I made it into A back in January my aim was hanging with the front group for as long as possible - I could get to 10 minutes I would be happy, many times I didn’t, and the odd race where I could hold for 20 m8mutes and i knew I’d be on for a good 20 min avaerage.

the race tonight was reasonably comfortable - I say that now but I don’t recall any moments of danger where I was caught the wrong side of a gap, other than towards the middle of the race but it was on a fairly flat section And quite a few riders on my side of the opening. First time up the KOM i gave it a good dig just to shake things up behind (sorry anyone that suffered as a result) - I found myself a few seconds in front with one or 2 other riders but with a descent ahead there was not much point burning more matches so I settled back. other than the hills I tried to sit in and conserve energy knowing in all likelihood it was coming down to a bunch sprint. great Support at the end. I had apan aero helmet which I used up too early so I was fighting with 100m to go with 2 Irish riders (My nemesiseses’) ahead who i recognise the names from the previous league results. Alas I couldn’t gte back round so had to settle for 5th on the night.

still 2 rounds to go, and I missed rd 1 so I still need good results and with volcano after party the final round I need to finish well next week to stand a hope of winning.

@IrishAl I’d sold myself on the idea of trying to lead you out at the end. Then with about 250meters to go I found myself sat in front of you and thinking this is perfect! But when that icon pinged up above your head and I hadn’t already launched I knew I was in a bit of trouble 😄. I was surprised to finish within a second of you in the end because you absolutely flew past me like a rocket. I think maybe we both found ourselves out of position slightly with 500 to go? I’d of like to have been a bit further up the field for sure. Legs in the front group to the very end 👍. The only way is up for Michael now too!

interesting that at times it looks like he is not pedalling yet nice power numbers hmm 🧐 e.g. at 12.47 and also when he jumps off the bike Ala Julian alaphillipe 1 second after winning the sprint. I’m usually hanging over the bars searching for the defib.

The momentum he carried whilst not pedalling was unreal. If I stopped pedalling I would be out of the back door of the pack almost instantly. The numbers don't reflect his relative ease on the bike. He could be superhuman

He is constantly cycling at 0 watts (or very close to that) power...althought I suppose he does continue after the end of the race at a lower pace which might account for some of that.
