Cracking time Andy - definitely a course that suits you.

I'm looking to ride the 4 o'clock today (@Brendan Parker is signed up for that too), but I still don't have a fan so I'm going to have to take it easier than I'd like. I'll be opening windows in the pain cave an hour before to try to cool the place down. Hopefully this will work ... if not, I'll be bailing again  My plan is to find Brendan and get him to drag me around the course...problem is Brendan is strong on the flats so he'll be well up the road from the off and I'll not be able to keep up

I have a fan on order at Argos but can't collect until tomorrow! This may be a stage I need to re-do on the make up week to have a full throttle go.

Ta Carl, I wanted less than 50 mins. I did actually achieve it, but the Zwift timing screen deemed to punish me

I could have gone a bit quicker:whistle: but I held back a little over the climbs knowing I needed to go again. I then ended in a group just a tad slower second lap, but I held decent form over the second climbs. ^_^

Without a fan it will be very hot.

A fair few early Stage 6 results in and some decent times :okay:

Adam has cut the lead at the top to a smidge over one and a half mins and there's lots of close racing on this stage :boxing:

I found that a lot tougher then I was expecting. I genuinely thought that stage was pan flat. Should of paid more attention to the comments from you guys.... I was licking my lips to be honest 😄. Then I turn a corner and get slapped in the face by a big hill! Twice !!

Seems I may have inadvertently motivated the whippet too as he pipped next by a few seconds (but whose counting👍 ^_^)

I’m hoping the final stage comes around quickly. Milzy managed to lose 3kg in 7 days by the looks of it so he’s like a ticking weight bomb! Another week like that and I’m done for. But we might be able to rope Bob geldof into starting a charity appeal for him!

Curious how you managed to go only 3 seconds slower than me, yet having an avg. wkg 14-15% less?

Is it your height and/or weight giving you the advantage?
My first thought is Andy had more draft.

I think I paced my effort, held back and stayed in any group, held decent power for each climb. I particularly liked the 23rd st climb. I would be dropped by the lighter riders up Libby, but my weight and momentum would carry up to and passed those in front on the 23rd st. I didn't lose so many places over the 3 climbs. I didn't have the best PBs overall but I was quite near my PBs

Once the mass of a small planet get rolling

Edit You were a little quicker on the flats, I was faster over the first 3 climbs, we then yo-yo'd. I lost a little time up Libbys by using a too low a gear spinning up the legs losing power.

That s is my type of course, better still without lumps

46:44 For el Betty yesterday I see 👍. Is that the time to aim for? 🎯

@bridgy have you had a go yet?

I think I’m going for the 11am race if anyone else fancies it
I’m hoping to get on at 5pm. I had planned the 8am but woke up feeling like I’d had a skinful the night before which is a shame as I haven’t touched an alcoholic beverage since New Year’s Eve lolol

It may feel even better on 28 tubeless and be more aero.
I'm not sure anyone claims wider tyres are more aero do they? Better rolling resistance perhaps, but aero depends most on how the tyre fits on the rim of the wheel (i.e minimal bulging of the tyre from the rim) but all things being equal narrower would be more aero - particularly on the front - as I understand it? This is why some time triallists use a narrower tyre on the front vs the back.

I know my friend found on his Zipp wheels that 25mm tyres (GP4000S) were pretty much too wide for the frame which is very snug - hence the 23mm tyres. Obviously some tyres and different rim widths can end up sitting on the wheel a fair bit wider than advertised.

56:30, which was way better than I'd hoped for - went in thinking that around 58-59 minutes would be great.

Was probably down to the group I got myself in for the flat part of the course on the first lap - with hindsight they were probably too fast for me (had to sprint to hold on to the back more than once) and that left me worn out by the time I reached the bottom of Libby Hill, but that's okay because I knew I was going to lose a lot of time/places there regardless. Just span up there at my own pace to recover, then powered up the second climb (one of my favs if you get a good launch off the downhill) before taking the final one easier again.

Got into a small but much more suitably paced group, which then grew to a decent size by the time we reached the sprint banner of the second lap - while we were slower for the overall lap compared the first, the climbs went a lot faster and I hardly lost any places at all. Still had just enough left in the tank to push hard for the last part of the final climb and the finishing straight - only one other guy overtook me, whereas I usually lose loads of places there.

I just checked out my Cervelo's fork and it looks that there is not much empty space left for 28mm tyres. At least wheel is better be trued straight. There are lot of differences with different bikes how wide tyre fits to roll into fork without rubbing.
