1 week of my training plan down, 5 to go. This week was a "grinding" week...hours and hours of excruciating painfull low cadence workouts
These are the workouts that tend to give you the highest Vo2 max measurement, and I got my highest ever score (57) in the very first session.
I'm really looking forward to something that doesn't involve low cadence, but next weeks plan includes 2 of them, one of them lasting more than 3 hours![]()
Thankfully, from there on it looks like we're moving on to threshold, sweetspot and sprints and only a few hour long low cadence workouts.
This year I started my plan from a higher level than before, with a lot more km's in the bag. Last time a started from a 275 watt FTP and raised that to 285 watt at the end of the plan. Increased that to 292 watts at the end of the season.
Starting point is now 285 watt and the hope is I'll be gaining as much as last time, but it could very well be that my engine is just not able to go further than 292 watt.... time will tell.
I just turn on the sauna heater, if you are interested. I have also beer as a recovery drink45:41 I came 19th on ZP.
I don't know what the hell just happened, was in a smallish group just cruising away, hit the very last hill, they all flew up like they were on E-bikes, I tried to follow so totally exploded. I think many were weight dopers and dumb trainers so I had nobody with me for the run in sadly. I could just go to bed now.![]()
Hmm, there I was, holding back power - waiting for you to catch up.Bugger. Had to bail. Fan stopped working 2 mins in !!!! Overheating, so will save that course for another day.
Would have been a long waitHmm, there I was, holding back power - waiting for you to catch up.![]()
Would have been a long waitFan stopped just after leaving the pens, thought I could hold on if I held back a bit but it's so hard not to chase when there are riders around
By the time I hit the 3 hills HR was 170 and sweat was dripping off me. Started to feel really ropey. Got over the top of hills and crossed Finish/Start line and then decided to bail as I'd only make myself ill otherwise.
I hit the hills about 215, and went through the Start/finish banner at 235. Didn't see you so assumed you was up the road somewhere. I actually felt OK on the road, was trying to hold back a bit as I was trying not to overheat .... it didn't work
Anyway, just checked fan. I assumed the fuse had gone but just changed that and still dead. Looks like I'll be heading to hardware store tomorrow to get a new fan 👍
Just saw your time .... 1 second inside 50 minsThat course suits the more powerful riders, for sure

Nothing wrong with that! USA USA USA!It s obviously very pro American but still
Just had a quick look at Strava and you completed lap one in 23:54 and I was 24:25, so 30 secs behind. Bloody fan ... could have been a close finishHit the start of the first KOM at 86, crested the 3rd hill/passed the banner at 180th.Gained a few spots on the flat, and lost them all and then some on the second time up the hills. Finished 198th on screen, 187th in the rankings and 130th on ZP...
4 min 265 watt @ 65 rpm followed by 1 min. 285 watt. How low a cadence are you going Lars?
40-50 rpm is my safe knee protection cadence
@<Tommy> sorry if already answered but the calculation for a good estimate of VO2 Max is: [(10.8 x ftp)/weight in kg] + 7How do you work out your v02 max Lars?
