I should do the same. Dartmoor classic end of June. No point getting fatigued or peaking too soon. Need to get outside but it's always freezing & windy.
As per last year, my training is aimed to peaking for the ToC early June. Will be mostly indoors, but hoping to take my new bike out a few times at least before Cambridgeshire.

Just checking one Strava and my second lap was nearly 2 minutes slower and average power 25 watts down (244 v 219) so looks like I didn't get my pacing right.
Did you get into a group for the flat of the 2nd lap?

These flat courses have a tendency to sap legs, lungs for the climbs. You either try hold back to save something for the climbs in the hope others will do the same for a group to stay together for both loops. Or go flat out, hold onto a fast pack and hope there is someone around to drag your knackered body for another lap:laugh:

Against my better judgement I found myself doing the full Stage 5 yesterday. 1:18:05.

Started with no warm-up, right at the back, paced myself into the ride, ended up with a bit of a friendly rivalry with another rider and in doing so caught a fair few riders who we rolled up into what became a fairly decent sized autobus.

I made the mistake of attacking the sprint at mile 8 when no-one else in the group did, and while recovering I got gapped, the elastic snapped and I had a pretty lonely ride afterwards (with one exception who can be best described as a wheel-sucking jerk who makes me long for the opposite of a "ride on" button. I may have been shouting "take a f***ing turn!" at my screen.)

I lost over 8 minutes to "my" group in the last 5 miles due to stomach distress. I'm sure my legs hitting my pot belly 80 times a minute didn't help.

I should listen to my better judgement more often.

I think that should have been my race report!

You've condensed my strategy down to one sentence

Well impressed with your plan and your commitment to date. Will be very interesting to see how the results go.

I'm also doing a fair bit of low cadence work - I think I find it a bit easier than over/under type threshold stuff, but it is hard innit.
Im a "Froomey" rather than a "grinder" , so yes it feels very Hard. Next week the +3 hour low cadence workout is actually over/unders :surrender:
