Looks like it might be beneficial to get over that first "bump" with plenty of other riders around to get a good draft down the hill. With it being so close to the start of the race, there will probably be lots of light climbers flying up it and then being caught by groups on the way back down...

Great, so you and Lee were just gently pootling around together and still beat me by 2-3 minutes :B). And @Milzy absolutely destroyed me on the final hill (possibly not that surprising as he's 12 kilos lighter though!)

Tommy, your normalised power was 295 watts for over an hour so if that felt like you weren't going full gas then you're in pretty good form I'd say (especially with a dodgy knee :okay:)

Current mood - :surrender:

I lost 2.30 to Lee/Tommy around the circuits, 2 mins to Paul. I then lost a further 8 mins up the KOM climb. :tired:

Nah, the light riders will be so far a head, there isn't enough time on the downhills to catch up more than a handful of seconds. Besides, have you seen Lee, he's faster than me on all terrains and weigh less than a newspaper^_^

Are you guys riding the "Group rides" as Cat A/B/womens (C) or the shorter "Races" split into Cat A/B/C/D?

I'm nowhere near strong enough for what is usually considered Cat A/B (averaging 2.1W/kg on Stage 1's Cat D race damn near killed me) but the companion app says that the longer group rides are between 1-5W/kg regardless of rider category.

We're riding the Group rides in "Cat A". And yes, although the "Races" are split into CATS A-D based on your w/kg, the Categories in the group rides simply mean: A- long route; B - short route; C - women only. Anyone of any w/kg can ride the group rides (because in theory they're not a race*)

*but we all know they kind of are really!

You're right - on tests up Alpe Du Zwift, a 75kg doing 300 watts would get to the top over 5 minutes quicker than an 82kg rider doing the same watts. On the way back down, the heavier rider will only be 7 seconds quicker
