View attachment 373218 Note to oneself. Don't ride fatigued! Started off and just got slower and slower, heart rate wouldn't really go over 150bpm. Abandoned ride and retreated to hotel to rest up. I did manage to get to Ventoux again:B)

The ride down to Bedoin was absolutely chaotic, hundreds upon hundreds of riders going up, fighting with no end of traffic.. the top was heaving with cyclists and sightseers. So glad we went via Malaucene, so hardly anybody saw my crumbling effort:cry:

Glorious views from Malaucene side,I needed to stop several times so took a few photos of the horizon
Looking at your shadow you've let the cat out of the bag. You're Batman!!!

Looks like i wont be racing tomorrow:sad: I was trying to workout why last night on the CG i could not match the consistent watts output on my training rides. I was aware of a dull ache at the back of my mouth but thought i had been grinding my teeth in my sleep. Well, up much of night with throbbing toothache and now have an emergency visit to dentist in morning for a rear molar extraction. Not looking forward to this at all.
Not good. Had that done myself a few years back. I choose the "knock me out option". Fairly miserable when I awoke and quite loopy. They hit a nerve while in there as well, so I've had lingering numbness in my chin ever since.

I'll look for you next week...

Yesterday's KISS EUR was mostly a blur. Knowing it was a climbing route I was pretty sure I wouldn't keep up with Juanjo, but I looked for him anyway prior to race start. He'd be good to pace against as long as possible. Then I'd shoot for Keedle & Barrie whom I recognized from prior events as being faster than me, but not insanely so on a climbing route.

Didn't find Juanjo during warmups, but shortly after the race started, I saw him fly by. I tagged along for a while. We were ahead of Keedle & Barrie, but not by a whole lot as we came up to Box Hill. Not surprisingly Juanjo left me in the dust and I was reeled in by a variety of riders behind, including Keedle and Barrie. I was just a few seconds off my PB for Box hill and about 45 off my PB for the first lap (PBs set on that superman day a few months back, so I'm going to consider yesterday my PB). I caught a goodly number of those who passed me on the Box Hill climb during the flat/downhill, but just couldn't get to Keedle and Barrie.

Formed up with a group of 8 others for lap #2. We got to within ~20 seconds of Keedle and Barrie, then had to climb Box again. I crept backwards in the group, but was able to catch 5 of them on the flat/downhill section. Got a little gap coming out of the subway, but being a mile out I didn't push it hard. Instead I tucked back in and tried to stay in the #2 or #3 position as folks moved around a bit. Brought the cadence up 300M out and hit the gas around 200M and took the sprint for the little group. I can't help but think if I'd had that sprint last week in the volcano I might have hit the podium. Sigh.

Anyway, 13th out of 52 qualified riders. Happy with the effort. More climbing tomorrow in KISS EUR.

Did a ZA endurance ride early this morning, and it was bloody tough. It was supposed to be 3 x 10 minutes at 3.5 w/kg but there were long periods of 4 w/kg and beyond. It was those ups and downs w/kg that got to me, and 4 minutes before the end I got dropped..
After that It was much easier to keep it at 3.5 w/kg on my own.

The leader afterwards told us he was in erg at 3.5 all the time.
Next time I'm enabling erg :B).

Did the last two rides with a now permantly mounted 4iiii power meter and it seems to give me same numbers as my BePro power pedals.

I did that ride yesterday evening (7:30PM BST) - the changes in power got to me, too! I was fine on the first interval but the second one was tough and I too got dropped on the third. As you say, hitting the little ramps and bursting up to 4W/KG and beyond is what does the damage!

I didn't know it was possible to use ERG on a group ride, I thought that was just for the workouts. How do you enable it, and how do you set what power you want it to stick to? I've had a Google and discovered the 'e' shortcut - that's going to be a pain for me because I use a laptop that is out of reach when I'm on the bike. Do you know if it's possible to set ERG from the mobile link app?

If you do use the 'e' key to toggle ERG, does it enable it at whatever power you are pushing at the moment you hit the 'e' key?

I'm a Zwift newbie, so don't know much about the inner workings. I only noticed that there's a "use erg" checkbox when selecting ride.

Dental reprieve! pain and swelling down, xrays inconclusive so we are waiting a few days to see what happens. Thus, if i get back from parents evening in time i will race tonight.

Although i have just noticed its the flat reverse not the hilly course...uggh.

I thought I saw hilly -- it's certainly been the case that ZP has been inconsistent/wrong with its courses over the last week. I'd go by whatever is says in the mobile link, that seems to be accurate. I don't have my tablet nearby to check the mobile link.

Exciting news!

Just back so won't race but carry on with workouts tomorrow

Jaw, will follow the live stream and look out for you
I got the ride-on. Thanks. I was doing OK marking Juanjo through the first couple laps. He got away a couple times, but never by a significant amount. Followed him once as he jumped between groups. But couldn't hold on during lap#3 when he accelerated. I was toast and just happy to finish today!
