Watopia Hilly. Ugh. It's real tight on time. My efforts have been between 1:02 and 1:07 and realistically I've got to be off the bike at 1:05.

The podium boys will probably be 57-58 minutes. Dean & Martin have clocked in at 59 on that course. I suspect the fast group will drop me during that first climb, but I'm going to see how long I can hang on. I'll look for you in the zsun kit.

Yeah, I think more my kind of course, a bit lumpy.
There will be a few of the zsun racers in there so will try and be sensible for a change and see if I can hang on their coat tails until the end. Absolutely no off the front for me:smile:

Been off today due to the weather so went for a swim bloody knackered after an hour and a half legs to tired after 3 hard days on trainer road so going to finish the final hard one tomorrow which is 6x15 minutes at 88-94 % ftp 2 hours long:eek: then very easy final week of recovery rides.

Dean, Surprised you didn't do ZA. Your TR routine may be a little tougher. And there was me hoping to get ahead of you:tongue:

I don't think Bob did the Sault route complete. He probably will have a better 6km to the summit. I was pretty knackered and held back knowing the schedule for the rest of the week. My excuse : D.
Well done mate, definitely one off the bucket list .

Now come on, for those of us who can't be bothered to trawl through both your strava feeds. Did 'Old dodgy knee' beat you up the hill or not?!

Correct-we started at the bridge. But it's downhill to there isn't it? Anyway, it's not the time that matters.Different if we were all there and the competitive spirit kicked in but otherwise too many variables not least the weather and in my experience if you go balls out you miss out on the experience. I think you have to pace yourself too and not ride on the rivet. I hope you get to do the route from Bedoin.
Enjoy!

I held my pace back a bit, the views were spectacular, rode passed a herd of mountain sheep with a companion dog which I have been told guards them against other predators. Then spotted a tiny grey fox sat in the road, has I rode by. Once I got to the last few corners the views were just jaw dropping, I swerved the bike to try and capture the views on the go pro.

Don't blame you. Take it easy.
I foolishly went for the CG despite knowing legs still sore and lasted 7km before spat out. To be fare the group of 60 plus was now a front group of 20 but still a little disheartening. But then I had just chased Lee up Box Hill at 6w though only for a few seconds^_^

Note to oneself. Don't ride fatigued! Started off and just got slower and slower, heart rate wouldn't really go over 150bpm. Abandoned ride and retreated to hotel to rest up. I did manage to get to Ventoux again:B)

The ride down to Bedoin was absolutely chaotic, hundreds upon hundreds of riders going up, fighting with no end of traffic.. the top was heaving with cyclists and sightseers. So glad we went via Malaucene, so hardly anybody saw my crumbling effort:cry:

Glorious views from Malaucene side,I needed to stop several times so took a few photos of the horizon

Looks like i wont be racing tomorrow:sad: I was trying to workout why last night on the CG i could not match the consistent watts output on my training rides. I was aware of a dull ache at the back of my mouth but thought i had been grinding my teeth in my sleep. Well, up much of night with throbbing toothache and now have an emergency visit to dentist in morning for a rear molar extraction. Not looking forward to this at all.

Not so crumbling! 1 min slower than my mate who weighs 67k and had done a similar mileage.

Not so impressed with the straightness of your horizon though:rolleyes:
