I have to nip out to the shops later. Will be popping into Iceland for the very first time in my life. This could cause me PTSD ......

HID has been quite ill recently and needs to be carried about a bit. Back and hips are shot. Can hardly move at the moment. I'll push on through tonight but, you know, worth mentioning anyway.

Whorty whorty whorty... I feel like I have to give you a couple of points just being desperate enough to use your wife’s health as an excuse. Even though she should know full well by now that it’s an official race day and make other arrangements!!

2/10....

You can earn another point if when you go to Iceland you can confirm they still sell the frozen apple strudel. Haven’t been to Iceland in years but man that strudel was surprisingly good!

I’ll step up first.

I’m going drinking with a bunch of retired telecoms engineers in Wetherspoons at 12.30.

This will also involve eating ‘food’ in Wetherspoons.

Here’s where my excuse may fail. Due to the company, beer, food and location I’ve decided not to enter this week’s race.

Would my excuse get a higher rating if I entered?

Wetherspoons... really...?

I guess you have me over a barrel Del. The risk of getting food poisoning there is 90% higher than most toilet bowls so...

3/10

Its generally a sparsely populated course, so no big chances to draft with a group. Given the first climb is very close to the start, a few will crest together the rest will be left pretty much for a solo ride. I did it during a workout so hopefully go a little quicker-maybe

Tommy's result obviously invalidated by the lack of HRM
...and how many rides are done with Bkool, mine at least.

My ride was on a wattbike atom do the power is about right. I think it’s very beatable but probably not by me today.

It’ll be interesting for me to see how close I can get to that time as it’ll give me an idea of what shape I’m in compared to this time last year. I did loads of interval sessions last winter and this course is basically a big interval session.

Impressive watts for that length of ride - I'll be happy if I beat your time.

Currently working on some excuses but nothing immediately comes to mind

I think you’ll be ok

They are good watts (modesty aside...) considering all the downhill.

It’s all the interval work I did on trainerroad last winter I think. It really helps with maintaining a bit power even when you’re not on full tilt.

I am officially in shock !!!! Not only Iceland but I went to Lidl too  I hope Waitrose don't find out and cancel my membership

Iceland do 'fat fighters' (called something else, can't remember what) meals that are good for the freezer and useful for when I'm feeling lazy. Got some frozen fruit too that we have been eating now as a desert, rather than the cakes we used to eat :okay: A lot cheaper than Waitrose

As for HID, I did tell her but apparently she can't control when her MS is bad. Mentioning that she was being a tad selfish didn't go down well :B)

Given the date, this would have been on the Kickr for me. My low average watts from back last year, assuming I can increase these watts, should mean I have the chance to knock some decent time off tonight. Hopefully sub 1:35 :bicycle:

Edit : just noticed Bob is slower than me :dance: I can live in this glory for another 10 hours :reading:
