Standard - Super early walk with (1st) Birthday girl.

Such a fun year - and I can’t explain how much she has improved my mental health. I’m sometimes prone to being a bit lethargic. And getting prepped ready for some exertion / getting out in the cold is a bigger deal than actually doing it. Now not only do I have no excuse not to go out - I really enjoy ‘our time together’ exploring our wonderful local Countryside / Woods / Beach.

None of that stopped Mum buying Macy (The Cairn Terrier) a Birthday cake hat and Birthday cake shaped toy 🤣🤣

Urban walk to start with, then along the Beach and then explored some of the woods we’ve not managed to find before. And came across a few interesting things this Morning……5 very pleasant miles 👍

Incoming named storm and a horrific weather forecast saw today’s early walk with my pooch do a a number of early, small loops to make up one longer walk - but never actually venturing too far from the house as such. Incase it really came down and we needed to make a bolt for it 🤨

Left at 6.01am so the Street lights had come on……So the whole walk was pretty much in the dark. At least it was a hole heap warmer than in recent days 😎

Winds were worse here this am. But at least there was no rain forecast all day. So out at 6am (For Street lights being switched on) we set…..

Passed the magnificent St Margaret’s Church here in Lowestoft:

Onto the Triangle. Which is the original / Old High Street area…..

Up to see Gulliver. The Towns land-based and well-known Wind Turbine:

We passed Lowestoft Lighthouse….

This thatched cottage on the site of Belle Vue Park. And a cottage Lulliput Lane based one of their figures on:

Also the site of the memorial to service folk:

Sea was reasonably calm considering - when we got to the beach:

Then cross the fields and under one of the old Lowestoft to Gt Yarmouth railway bridges:

Before coming home for breakfast 😉

Not cold, stayed dry, saw some sights. Burned some calories. All good 👍

Decent walk today - in decent conditions too. Started at 6.00am - as a busy day ahead planned.

Unbeknown to me this was my 600th Strava activity too 😁

The only Tower block in Lowestoft (St Peters House) - that’s being knocked down in early 2025:

Gulliver the Wind Turbine. At nearly 400ft - when erected it was the Tallest land based in the U.K:

Lowestoft lighthouse…..up on the Cliffs…..doing its thing:

My favourite spot in Lowestoft: up on Gunton Cliff and overlooking the Beach, Dunes etc…..

Down to and along the Beach we went…..

And found Lowestoft Town Council have started their next well-funded stage of Sea Defense Works: 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Dog being typically nosy……

Before we cut through Dip Farm / the woods on the way home:

Cake or ice cream? The choice is endless ...

First decent walk, over & above my normal 2 to 3 mile daily walks..
As the dog needed a bath i thought it might be worth using what used to be a nice footpath before the land was targeted for redevelopment! Still a footpath just north of Kingsthorpe Moor but fenced & mucky now..

The most westerly point is close to Harleston Firs and is due to be covered in houses soon.

The 'footpath' 🤷

Not rideable either! 😂

This area is covered in poppies during the season.. Soon to vanish 😔

I know housing is necessary but, personally, I prefer these views.

Anyways.. 6 miles walked before depositing Bonnie in the bath for a de-gunge 🐶 🚿

Ooo…. Just found this ‘walk’ thread.

Up early on Saturday for a 3 hour drive north, followed by a wee solo tootle up Ben Lomond (a few others were up there too) before driving home in time for dinner.

I recently became aware that we can see Ben Lomond from here in Edinburgh. This is from Craiglockhart Hill, Ben Lomond arrowed above HMP Saughton.

That’s brilliant. I was up Merrick, a local Dumfries & Galloway hill a few weeks ago and spotted it way off in the distance too. That’s where the plan to climb it this weekend came from.

This a.m. (7.o'clock) I walked to B&M for a tube of silicone sealant. Roughly 3.5 miles each way so got there just after they opened at 8. o'clock.

Sealant (although usually short dated) is so much cheaper there than at B&Q and you aren't pestered into serving yourself!

Just over two hours for the seven miles, a little light drizzle but nice enough. I don't have any pictures of B&M🙂
