Glorious morning today, especially after the wind & rain of last night. Shame that when I opened the garage door I found my front tyre was flat; bu$$er! Figured it must be a slow as after my ride yesterday, no sign of trouble. Pumped it up & off I went to meet the rest of the CTC Lincoln group for a short ride.

After the cake stop I went out expecting to need to put some air in the tyre - no probs. However, then I noticed the rear tyre was completely flat! Pumped it up but no joy; nothing for it but to change the tube. Found a bit of swarf in the tyre, which had to be pulled through from the inside to get rid of it (thanks to John for his assistance).

Just to make my day complete, I then had to make my way home into a head wind.

Should have stayed in bed!

Fantastic ride out today. Mate and I decided to head over to Hebden Bridge and do the Heptonstall Moor loop suggested a couple of months ago in MBR. Great start when my mate realised the new Cycraguard he'd fitted to the front of his bike was now fouling the gear cables. One pair of borrowed scissors later and he could finally change down again. Got lost due to a tiny map and crap directions, but found ourselves in a deserted Scout Camp on the wrong side of the river, listening to the sound of distant banjos.......

A hellish bike-over-the-shoulder slog up some old boulder strewn paths and we finally found ourselves on a narrow B road, which eventually took us to a Waterboard track to Gorple Res. That was great, but a stiff headwind gave us plenty to think about. That led us to the Pennine Bridleway, and another gruelling climb into the wind right up onto the tops above Colden. From there, what can I say. Hardtail heaven with some fast, hard descents, and the final downhill from The New Delight Pub into Hebden Bridge which can be done at warp speed and seemed to go on forever. Fantastic fun, and heartily recommended. There were three or four get off and push sections in all of the ten or so miles we did, mainly due to cloying bog in places.

Great coffee in Hebden Bridge, served by some extremely attractive ladies (or so my mate says, I was looking at the pair of Spsh Allez triples outside the cafe, honest...)

looked rather cold at first with snow down near to sea level, but temperature rose so took a gentle 10 miles(round trip) out along the coast looking for anything interesting following the storms of the previous night. Then returned emptyhanded:sad:, still, it was a fine day to be out.

Clear skies when I set off, but dressed for the cold and expected the rain. Winds weren't too bad, certainly better than yesterday. Roads still treacherous after weekend storms; fallen branches, mud and loose flint from hillside run-off. Exhilerating couple of hours, but the skies opened in the last half hour as I got caught in heavy downpour of rain / sleet / thunder & lightning. Bought a Foska training jacket at the weekend - very good piece of kit  - warm and dry throughout the final downpour.

Went for a blast [ in a Moulton fashion ] around the lanes with twentysix by twentyfive and he took advantage of the fact he was on a proper bike and won every sprint into every village except Hanley Swan where I conned him by stopping pedalling when ever he looked round and just managed to get over the 30 line by the depth of the tread of the Primo Comet on the front wheel

Nice sunny weather with some very menacing looking anvil shaped storm clouds out looking for us but they took the Ashelworth route and we went to Strensham today:tongue:.

33 miles average speed 16.5 mph............ I am knacked:smile:

Very mild here today...must have been 6 or 7 degrees on the way home, and NO wind whatsoever. Woud have been a good day for a longer ride, but i came close to being a grandad again today, so better get home and see whats what :girl: False alarm as it turns out.

One of those crisp clear winter days you dream about but all too rarely experience-headed over Biggin way, then through Parwich towards Longcliffe, along the old railway to Parsley Hay and back down Long Dale to Hartington....killer hill at the end but just beautiful!

Fantastic first commute of the year for me (it's 17 miles each way) along country lanes till I hit the Toon... beautifully sunny, cold, but I was togged up. Forecast for Thurs and Fri is dire, so wanted to make the most of today's glorious weather. So did lots of others, by the look of things, cos I saw about 9 other cyclists along the lanes, all but one of whom shouted a cheery "hello". Only downside was that the ride ended up at work...

Fist ride since sundays outing with the ctc when I fell orf and landed heavily on my left knee and wrist (yep the broken one)...40km loop..front wheel needs a true up...was going to go to the lbs to get the steer tube cut eventually but reaslized I'm skint again...on one near death experience with a dosy woman on the brentwood roundabout she looked right at me then aimed her car ant me and went for it...it would have been murder.
