11 mile extended commute tonight, thats something like 70 or 80 miles cycled this week...bit more than ive done lately.
Too hot though...normal clothes, cycling jacket plus my hiviz jacket ( i only wore this to get home for a wash this weekend)...bugger, i was sweating.

I think my commute was only around 7 miles (round:blush:) making a miserable total of 54miles this week. I'm itching to get out for a decent ride but the forecast for this weekend looks rotten

AAAahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Just in from a 28 mile night pootle in and around Oxford with 3 pals. The Students are back and it's totty central once more!
Very warm tonight, v. slight precipitation in the air and it got noticably windier as the evening rolled on. Altogether a nice evenings pedaling. Now enjoying a pint of milk and a slab of Christmas cake.

Life's sweet sometimes.

Gorgeous ride this morning. Train to Ilkley, cycled home. Blue skies, bright cold sunshine, some fab hills...really lovely!! Stopped at the bike shop on the way home and have bought my first pair of clip in pedals.

Sat here looking at the now. Bricking it.

You'll be fine Cathryn I'm sure.

Swapped front wheel and tyres, fitted rear rack and SPD's and took the rear brake off my new bike and went fixed for the first time.

It was very . . err . . . . interesting!

Did about 20 miles, up and down a few hills on 42x16. Sat here having a brew and it still feels like I'm leg braking xx(.

A weeks commuting on it should see me improve technique I hope!

Up before the birds this morning. Rode out to Selby and back via Sherburn mostly in the dark. Nice but got drenched coming through Wistow so the return 20 was cold and damp.

I wasn't the only one out early either. Passed another cyclist coming the other way near Gateforth. If you happen to read this..........HI........I didn't get a chance to greet you this morning, TBH I didn't realise it was a bike until we had passed.

rode for an hour and a half up to the cat and fiddle (the steep back road way), back down the a54 then across to wildborclough and over the ridge back through macc forest.

first climbing ride of the year, on the summer bike

The weather turned out to be a lot better than forecast, the winds were mostly constant rather than gusty. I ended up doing 46 miles. It started to change for the last 5 miles of my ride now the wind has got really strong and when I was about a mile from home it started to spit. I had a wee bit of a brown trouser moment (in my new Santini bib longs too ) I was turning right at a roudabout (the Tesco rbt in Dunfermline if anybody knows it) and a blacked out Range Rover shot on to the rab from the south without giving way fortunately he braked hard and it was reasonably dry so the skid wasn't bad, it the closest I've got recently to contact. A witness actually followed me into the DEX housing estate to check I was OK, nice of him

Other than the last 2 miles it was a great ride.

From my house to Manchester City's ground to watch them win 1-0. A nice round trip of 21 miles, blown there at 20mph plus all the way, fought my way back into the teeth of a howling gale at a much lower speed.

I'm surprised the bike was still there !!!

Had to ride in solo this morning as 515mm didn't fancy riding home with a storm brewing. I thought he was being slightly melodramatic as the wind wasn't too bad when I left the house. Though I was spinning out on the Dispatch coming past the University and St. Helens.

However come 5 p.m. the rain started and the wind followed. Being a tough old nut I thought it wasn't that bad. 515mm and Fairweather thought I was mad! So after I changed into the cycling clobber I ventured out of the back door to see what they were fussing about, and nearly got blown off my feet by the force of the wind. Ah, perhaps an offer of a lift might be wise to accept? It was whilst putting the bike in the back of Fairweather's vehicle I saw an 8x4 sheet of ply get blown past up the road!

Sounds like a wise move. I was surprised how fast things changed; it was quite delightful weather wise for my ride. In the last 3 or 4 miles it started to get a bit wind it then started to spit. Fortunately I got home before all hell broke out, its actually worse out there now
