I pass bibury on some of my longer routes, Il look out for someone with a puncture and clattering derailleur. ;)

Another 30 miles today, got caught out in the rain but fround a tree to shelter under and eat my load of food.

All fixed now (edit: as in 'repaired', not 'fixed'). As luck would have it I had a spare set of gear cables knocking about and the shifter itself was ok, so that was my Sunday afternoon taken care of!

My usual haunt at Bibury is the little open air cafe at the trout farm but it's only open in spring and summer. I did have a slap-up meal in the hotel once though (can't remember the name of it now - just over the bridge) which was quite a disincentive to cycling home afterwards!

2 hours mudplugging in local countryside cycle routes, brickpits and wasteland.
Didnt fancy getting the roadbike out, so i opted for the Trek hybrid (i rarely ever us it) and just going offroad. What a lovey change. Bikes filthy, so am i...and grinning like a cheshire cat.
Almost makes me want a proper off road bike....better not start thinking like that ;)

I get 'directed' to do a long ride , usually a 100km audax every weekend by my personal ayatollaress. She tells me it's an investment in my health - I get the dividends of being able to be free of directives, instructions, nags, advice, sulks, strops and guilt trips

Wait until your marriage/partnership matures. You'll get kicked out too

I wish  Married for 31 tears..sorry years . The probem is i spend a fair bit of time at work etc...i always feel guilty dissapearing off for hours on end. Consider yourself lucky ;)

31 years...wow...a life sentence with no remission for good behaviour

I am very lucky. A lot of riders that I see on the calendered audax rides want to marry my wife when they discover how often I get out.

Just over 70km on my singlespeed. A few quick blasts, but mostly a steady pace. And a very good cafe stop for coffee and BLT, with lots of rashers of B ;)

My wife and I had a most pleasant ride around the backroads of East Lothian, clocking up 40 miles at an average of just over 15 mph. We waited till the rain had blown through and it became a lovely, sunny, winter's day.

Up to me to report on todays ride as Lardyboy forgot his camera....

Started in County Cycles - Cross Hands, plan was to go as far as Llandovery and turn back to the shop. We got as far as Llandeilo and decided to take the back roads to Llandovery, just as we get to the little village of Bethlehem I got a puncture - - - make that two punctures!! I was not happy. Thanks to the boy Lard and his tube changing skills we were back on the road in no time. Shortly after I had to shout to Lardy to look up - there was a flock/herd/gaggle/shoal of Red Kites above us - we counted twelve at one point and boy were they close - quite a sight!.
After that it was straight back to the shop as we had no tubes or gas squirty pump cans left. So no coffee or cake, have to have double next week eh...

here's the pics

Well , my first time out on the road bike this year ! I know , what was stopping me ? Anyway , I did it , four laps of Richmond Park , plus the to and fro , just over 30 miles.
I know it was sunny but did that really justify the two guys I saw riding with no gloves and in short sleeves ?
I had four layers on top , three with long sleeves , and I didn't feel overdressed.

Jeez Snakey you must feel the cold. I had a sleeveless base layer and a long sleeve winter jersey on and was toasty. Starting to think about shorts as well.

Today was more like it same 25 mile loop as yesterday but 8 minutes faster, duller today but dry and not too cold.

Shade under 15 miles commute tonight...finished early, so a quick ride alongside the river.
Running parallel at one point is a drainage ditch, i saw three Redshank in the muddy margins. Ive heard them in that area before, but this time i got a good lookee.
Nothing else to report, just a mild ride, no gloves, no hat, and got sweaty.

+1

Went out for a couple of hours this morning in glorious sunshine. Had on the Foska winter jacket plus the sleeveless base. Definitely too warm on the climbs and finished them with the zip fully open. Feet still just a touch on the chilly side, but only after about three hours. Definitely thinking about getting out the shorts with arm / leg warmers

Utterly fantastic ride this morning, very little wind, dry roads, only a few White Van nutters, and pure luck that I managed to have a day off today. A wonderful Monday morning.
