First ride after 2 weeks off due to a large dose of this cold/flu/plague that's going around, just did 11 miles to see if my chests now ok.
Seems all ok so will be diving back in properly from tuesday

I cycled my first 100km audax in six weeks having had several strains of the lurgy and one foul weekend. Was surprised by my early brisk pace but pay back time came in the last fifteen kilometers with a strong headwind that dropped my speed to 12km/hr. Still maged to make it the fastest of the the three that I've ridden since November 1st.

Feeling good but need a snoozzzzzz..................zzz....zz....

Nope. There are some rides where, if my partner in crime from Hyde is over, we actively conspire to be the last to finish within the time limit.

It was disconcerting to be be 20 minutes from the turning point and seeing the 'chain gang' breeze past in the opposite direction.

I'm happy to get around 100kim with 5 hours of pedalling time. The roadies are back home and on their turbo trainers by then

isnt an audax just a longish ride then?
Yes and no.
It sends you over a route and terrain you might not usually choose to ride over, within a time limit.

The 400k and 600k rides are more than what I'd call long-ish!

Anyway, I didn't go out today as it's a bit blowy outside .
I preferred the cold, wind-free weather.

15 mile commute tonight...went to get haircut, spent 5 minutes locking the bike up, only to be told...sorry, we're closed soon...doors are locked

To get there, a mix of country park...mixed quality cycle paths, urban roads running with rainwater....and the gritters are out ;)
Not a particually nice ride in the urban areas / cyclepaths. Too much dazzling from cars on the wet roads, too many potholes on the cyclepaths (i dont usually go that way, so i dont know the quality of the paths), although the country park bit was good. Raining steadily, so no peds about.

Dropped my little lad off at the child minder this morning (used the car), popped back to get the bike but really feeling like I couldn't be arsed, plodded along anyway, thought will soon perk up when the blood starts flowing, got to chester road and massive traffic jams right up to stretford precinct, that picked the mood up for sure . Happy all the way from there on.
Stank of fuel all the way down the stretch of chester road and then down talbot road though, some bugger was leaking ;)

warmer than recent...tried out a new route and let the gps do the work...it was ok but ended up being hillier than I had expected in places. I started messing with my saddle position half way around..up a touch , forward a touch...you know the drill...I think it may hae slipped gradually over the last few rides. No nea rdeath moments to report...got yelled at as usual by the local skool kids waiting for 4x4 mum to pick them up and drive them 400yds home....went out over dressed as used to recent freezing temps...sweating all the way around....grey drizzle mostly...only 35km today.

50 miles today!

From West Bristol - out across the old severn bridge - up the Wye Valley as far as Tintern - up a bloody long climb to Trellech - back down towards Chepstow taking a cheeky shortcut through St Arvans and on to chepstow and the Severn bridge.

Was a cloudy when I started, but the sun came out half way round.

Just a shade under 20 miles tonight...and i got my haircut

Earlier finish today, so mosty daylight riding, which is a bit of a novelty for me at the moment. Homebrew LED lights worked well once it got dark. Again, a mix of country park, urban and rush hour riding. A good mix, a good ride
