Wimped out today, Bit of a bad head this morning, so after a while looking at the bike longingly decided to give in gracefully and take the dog for a walk instead.

It was a bit warmer today and the roads were pretty much dry. 40 miles on the cross bike, mostly on the road but some bridleways too. It is very hard to ride over patches of deep frozen mud.

Did me first ride this morning. Cold it was but the fact I was out made it great. Did all of 4 miles in the end. Can`t wait for tomorrow for my legs to tell me all about it. Then the next day for more.

Nice work!

19 miles today* slightly less freezing than yesterdays 15 miles, nice to see daylight before work beckons and the turbo /TV combo restarts at night (got fed up of the very cold night rides).

*approx 10 minutes slower than summer times, though also on my winter bike & more fear of hitting ice!

Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.
40km loop...chatted with two roadies...seems roadies are more talkative this year and accept me more..cool..nearly died in brentwood as a dopy women in a 4x4 joined the roundabout without looking and nearly slammed into my side....at least she apologised with makes achange from the usual '**** off you self-gratification artist who gives a shoot if you die anyway' attitude prevalent in these parts. Cold ride again...got challenged in jest at the top of Noak hill to a 'last one down there is a sissy' by a roadie...wasnt having that so I passed him at 59km ph on the way down...much fun....I'm still carrying to much baggage from Christmas.

My hands were a bit cold when I took the above as I took my gloves off to take it.

Just a few miles commuting for me...damp n salty although the roads are moderately quiet. Summer bikes firmly locked away now, after its few excursions this last week.

28 mile loop - 1h.30m, main roads a bit crappy - i.e. black salty rubbish, the lanes were nice and dry, ice free and clean.... 4-5c not too bad, fully windproofed, blitzed a few other roadies, then some idiot nearly killed me......ah well.....enjoyed the first 20 miles.....

Only managed 11 miles cos my lights decided to play silly buggers, alternating between strobe/low/high/off/strobe/high/low/etc/etc. Pain in the arse cos it was a nice evening, if a little chilly, and I was looking forward to 2 or 3 hours. Never mind I'll see if I can get out tomorrow for a short ride, then Sunday for 4 or 5 hours.

Decided to go back to keeping a record on bikejournal after being plagued by illness and injury in 2008...suppose I'd better get computers back on the bikes!
