Soooo mild tonight
Into the dark dark countryside east of Peterborough alongside the river nene.
I hate...and love night riding. No-one about, mile after mile of empty cycleways...but then you can only see what's in your lit area, a bit boring in some ways. Mind, the thought of losing concentration and going in the river in the dark tends to sharpen your senses

Where i've used the roads today, everyone's been very well behaved. Even an oncoming bus stopped to wait for me...he had right of way, and i had no right to be there  (bus only section of road) I do wonder if he thought i was a PCSO. I stopped short and waved him forward...it is his road at that point.

Pleasure to ride today. Dont care how far or fast, just a pleasure:tongue:

Woo I got my speedometer working again. Question is do I carry on measuring my mph the old way or the new way on the speedometer which makes me sound faster?

18miles done in 1:01:11. Bit slow, but was slippy out so wasnt going too hard.
Had some idiot in a Jaguar sit as close as he could when i was trackstanding at lights. I turned around and stared at him, looked at my back wheel and started moving back. Kept moving back untill my backwheel was really close to his number plate, about an inch away, looked at him then when the lights changed to green i moved off. He sat far back, didnt overtake when i thought he was, and sat way back at the next set of lights. Then when he did pass he passed very wide.

Here's a thought...
I ride almost every evening in the rush hour traffic. Its only Peterborough, but high volume traffic is high volume, wherever you are...isnt it ?
Either the motorists in Peterborough are really quite good, or i have unwittingly gained command of the space around me. I havnt had a bad commute (bar one taxi driver who was a tad too close) in so long...i cant remember.
Anyways (hoping it doesnt go all awry soon)...good ride tonight, mild, with a gentle to moderate southerly wind.

Are all cyclists closet weathermen  We talk at work...one of the women always want to know what the weathers doing, so she can get her washing in . She relys on my forecast...poor girl

I cant believe how many guys are out there cycling on paths and cycling with no lights...ah well, here's hoping they dont give us all a bad name.

Today I finally relented (though my night riding has not stopped) but yes today the turbo trainer was put back into action, 10 miles whilst watching TV!

Usual loop. Speedos are great. I can cheat and broke my loop record by going very slowly as it didn't count the 14mins at junctions/traffic lights  so ended up with a silly 13.7 mph.

Now i feel the need to take care on the roads...greasy, slippery and in the mornings..icy :becool: Those manhole covers look awfullly slippery. I'm getting a complex about them xx(

Good few miles tonight, good patient motorists, but i've noticed one set of traffic lights that's ALWAYS against me . The phases are real slow as well....but i feel some kind of moral upholder waiting like all the motorists....while fcukwits just breeze on past...or mount the path and wiggle through peds, etc etc etc.

Freezing fog this morning on the commute .
Got up above it just as the sun was lightening the sky and it was gorgeous looking down the frosty icy valley.

I had plenty of ice on me when I arrived, my eyelashes didn't freeze but they were heavy with collected moisture from the fog .

Just cold fog coming home and couldn't get above it but came the long way and the frost in the hedgerows was stunning, thick on the plants and the spiders webs were as good as I've ever seen if not better.

Long, cold, some nasty hills (nasty for me anyway), it was great!

Shame I ended up having to get the train home due to a broken spoke between Hampton and Kingston  Luckily the discovery was suspected but only confirmed as I was directly opposite the train station in Kingston. Still... a great day all round - even stopping for drinks / cake in Staines!

Another track session. It was so cold that I had to stop just before the end because my lungs were hurting. Got back and could barely stand or click the computer mouse!

Weather like this should be banned.
