27.92 in 1:30:45 so averaged 18.46mph on the fixed:becool: Decent ride, no need for my jacket.
Sunday was a ride, got soaked. 32miles done, out to Southwell the long ay, then back through Oxton. Fast-ish. Had a group come past us, so we sped up and was on the back. As soon as the slight incline came i shot past them all, and kept ahead:becool: Impressed myself there

 i've been that way sometimes
I've been that way back in the car i.e. oxton to southwell and the hill outof oxton seemed massive - but when i did the descent into oxton the other way on the bike i was a bit disappointed...
did you go through the ford on beanford lane?

Good in reverse? Hmmm. I'd considered doing it that way round as it looked easier to me than the other way round. Thought the snake out of glossop was steeper than the other side? Is that avatar from Jason and the Argonauts or one of the Sinbad Films, Longers?

The ride up the snake from Glossop is just a steady gradient all the way with slight changes, from the other side the steepest bit is the last bit.

The pic is from the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the year, winner of the "Animal Portrait". It's a macaque and he looks like how I feel most of the time .

About a 10 to 15 mile commute today...and a bit of a rarity on all fronts...
No wind ...not a breath
Well behaved motorists at rush hour.
Nice and mild weather.

To continue a great week so far, I fell off this morning. Front wheel went while negotiating a corner I ride 5 or 6 days a week.

Not much damage to bike, superficial scratches mainly but didn't bounce as well this time and have a wonderfully sore shoulder and a beautiful graze on my knee.

10/10 for my Aldi winter jersey for coming through this week so far, without much more than a scratch

Zip on my Aldi top burst the other day. Otherwise, the top is mint. Disappointed with that as I only used it for a few months.

Nope, didnt go through a ford.
The decent seems bigger then what it is, its not too bad though.
Todays ride was out to Kirkby in Ashfield, then back again. Not too bad out. Just under 40 miles. Not too fast, but headwind all the way there.

try ravenshead to blidworth, that's a fairly enjoyable segment, a descent from the A60 then a fairly long flat straight where you can maintain a lot of the speed gained, then climb into the top of blidworth then a nice descent with some fairly nice fast bends.

THEY ALWAYS DO! it is a well known fact that aldi zips are made of cheese.
I once had the (mis)fortune to try on a coat while in aldi, before (without) having bought it, and the zip stuck while I had it on, and I almost couldn't get it off in order to put it back on the shelf.

Will have to try that way. I go to the comprehensive school there to see someone:becool: You can get to there from the A60 i think:wacko:
The bit that kills me, is the road that goes from the round about on A614(by Calverton) and goes up to Ravenshead, pops out on the main road(A60?) outside Newstead Abbey. Uphill(slightly) normally with a head wind and its boring.
Will have to go that way one time Bonj, see what its like.

longdale lane, yeah that is a boring shitter. I went that way when i rode to work from southwell via oxton. Prefer through blidworth.

24 miles today.
It's surprising how it starts in nice bright conditions...then gets dark within one hour. Only a couple of idiots who seem to think i must be unaffected by full beam lights, then graciously turn main beam off when you're only 50 feet away :laugh:

Very light winds, quite mild....very nice.

I've got loads af decent aldi gear... and they sell (some) decent cheese too, not just in zips
Don't, however, buy "medium" aldi bib longs, unless you are about 7 foot tall, and have no sense of proportion:smile:
