54 miles today, on my lonesome but saw a load of other bikers out, from club runs to families on MTB's, all good to see and everyone was pleasant in returning the wave.
Quite a hilly route and my legs felt a few of the climbs. Sun was a welcome sight although a stiff wind in places, esp up high made the going quite tough, my route seemed to either have a headwind or a crosswind as well, very little tailwind

managed to do 5 counties today, West Lothian, Edinburgh, Central, North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire,
came back to do some work in the garden, i'll sleep tonight!

Yesterday had a quick nip 'round the block' on the MTB to see if I'd cured my clicking seat/seatpost. 22 miles later I can report that I hadn't, but I did find out what was causing it. The click has been sorted now ( I think).

Today... 57 wonderful miles (& 3000ft accent) on the road bike through Cumbria's best kept secret - being that 'forgotten' part of the county north of the A69 . I hardly saw a soul all day, and had the place pretty much to myself. Very sunny, but there's still a bite in the wind.

Considering it's the first 50+ miles ride I've done in over 30 years (took 4 hrs 20, not including 2 x 10 min stops), it didn't hurt a bit. So, all in all, I'm pretty chuffed

42 miles this morning on the road bike, including my first categorised climb on Strava, get home, 45 minutes rest, then jumped on the hybrid and did another 25 miles with our lass. Is it wrong to claim a metric tonne?

Put it this way- if you stopped for a 45 minute pub lunch in the sunshine you wouldn't think twice about claiming it- help yourself and good work!

Went out for a club ride with the other half today, was supposed to be 40 miles but the lead rider got a bit lost, so we ended up 60 mile round trip, was a lovely day for it so no problems, it's the longest ride the other half has done and she could have gone on for more, really nice day with a really nice crowd, am enjoying ridding with the club, can do a bit of fast stuff then wait for a few to catch up, we have a few quick one's in the club so it gives me someone to chase.^_^

Weekend update: Catching up with some friends over Peterborough way (near Elton) so took my bike along. While they were busy I rode up to through King's Cliffe to Rutland Water, then down through Morcott and Harringworth and back to Elton, 46 miles at an 15.1 mph ave. Followed that with an evening of BBQ, few drinks and catching up, a load of comments about how healthy I was looking, down to the cycling:smile: Came home today and did 25 miles of my Newbury to Swindon route to loosen the legs up. Good weekend:smile:

Some lovely rolling countryside out there flatflr, while I don't get as far as Rutland, rather head off toward Corby from Harringworth, I always like it out there, some nice short stabs of hills and nice views.

Mine today...another hours trip on the hybrid. Staying off the roadbike so I don't overdo it (wifes orders, although sensible). Countryparks and woodland tracks...no rush, no traffic, just an hour with the wife, nice to be out there.

spent some time checking the bike over before heading out for an hour between gardening chores. A nice 13 mile ride round the local lanes in the sun. :sun: The wind had died down so it was pleasantly warm too. I lost count of the different wild flowers in bloom - so different from the wintry conditions just a few weeks ago. It may be the begining of June, but there is still snow on the Northern slopes of The Cheviot. Anyway, I got back and realised I had forgotten to check the tyre pressures before I went out - they were half of what they should have been, no wonder the hills felt hard:banghead::wacko:

Only a twelve miler here today, due mainly to being weighed down after an enormous pub lunch - courtesy of the Black Horse in Swaffham Bulbeck.

Headed out past Lode village across the fen and stumbled across a farm where a polo match was in progress. Yes, polo. (No riff raff around here you know). I thought about standing in the home end to yell 'who are you?' at the away fans, but after I shouted 'what the f****n'ell was that?' after a horse's effort was well wide of the woodwork, it was clear my presence was not required. So I never got to find out what the half time pies were like. And horses clearly have no grasp of the offside rule either.

Then on down a track past a place called Oily Hall, and I had a look at a new 'wild camp' that the National Trust have put in. It's pretty isolated, nowhere near any roads or houses. Some nice shelters to sleep in, a place for a big open fire, and even a compost toilet. Now I know where to head to if Mrs G throws me out.

Back on home ground on the Lodes Way, I headed up towards Wicken Fen and one of the 'Lodes Way Irregulars' appeared on his fixed gear as I was watching a marsh harrier glide overhead from Reach Lode Bridge. One of the great things about this part of the world is that you can see folk approaching for ages. So I had plenty of time to take his photo.

We chatted for a good old while as lots of folks cycled past which is always good to see.

Then I headed home to Mrs G only to find my favourite top had been borrowed. The cheek of it. Here's the culprit peering at some plants. ^_^

My brother said he'd have a ride out to Stourport with me so I didn't enter the Wheel Heroes 100k as originally planned. Rang him this morning: nope, not in the mood. Both rides out the window.

Dithered over a solo ride somewhere and eventually settled on a 20-miler down to Earlswood Lakes and back. I chose an anti-clockwise route (it always seems to be anti-clockwise) heading through Kings Heath and Kings Norton, down Icknield Street to Weatheroak then over to the lakes. Bumped into somebody I rode to Wellesbourne with the other week when I got there but I'm terrible with names. I decided I was hungry so demolished the packet of Jaffa Cakes I shrewdly stuffed in my bag and just loitered on a bench for 20 minutes while faffing about with my phone. Rode back through Dickens Heath, round the side of Shirley and into Yardley Wood.

Some incredibly stupid examples of driving sadly.

My ride this morning started in a cafe; never started a ride in a cafe before  The club then headed to Uppingham where we stopped at another cafe  I decided to spin for a change and did the whole ride in the wee ring. I then got back to watch the Criterium du Dauphine Libere but I could only get it in French and it was still :sun: so I went out for another slow ride. There's a wee bit missing when I forgot to switch the Garmin back on after another cafe

If you saw somebody in Cycle Chat kit getting pulled along by a peleton that was me; I then went back up to Rutland in the afternoon :sun: :hello:
