I got out on bike for only the second time since I bought my road bike, I had to go and get my ticket for the game tomorrow and wanted to try my new shoes. it was only 10 miles but it was still frosty but I kept warm and enjoyed it. I'm looking to build up my miles in the better weather.

Today's ride was but a short 5 miler to the Asian supermarket in Rochdale
to pick up supplies for a curry night on Saturday,Gets about half way there and there's a gritter lorry on it's side
looks like he hit a house then tipped over, (the driver got away with minor injuries luckily)
arrived at the supermarket to the sight of 2 men of pensionable age battling on the pavement
trading insults in Yiddish and Urdu

Ok I'll go to the shop next door methinks:rolleyes:

It was better than the ride I had last week, riding out to meet Bromptonfb,I had a scruffy black transit fly out of a
side road in the centre of Heywood,He the shot off down the road ,turned right without indicating straight into a
poor pedestrian who was crossing the road, said pedestrian was hurled into the air and landed in a heap on the road.
Well can you guess what's coming next?..............................................................................................................................

Yep the transit reversed back on to the main road and took off like a scalded cat, utter A"£$holes
fortunately the chap was not badly hurt and 2 nurses happened to be walking past and came to his aid,
His reg was noted and reported to the boys in blue, hope they caught them and felt the full weight of the
law descend on em like a ton of bricks.

One from last Tuesday on my way to Styal near Manchester Airport. This is the road that goes under the Bridgewater canal near Lymm,as you can see not cars could use it this morning.....although some did try the day before and failed

But having a bike makes all the difference and i could use the raised path by the side of the road :bicycle: Well worth the cold !

Where has everybody gone today, went out this morning for a nice easy 20 mile loop, did not see another cyclist till i got about a mile from home, and that was just an old boy been out to do the shopping, my mate who i normally cycle with on a saturday morning cried of for the second week on the trot, we must have a few whimps down this way, was a bit of a nip in the air but all the frost had gone when i went out, looks like another solo ride sunday morning.^_^

Well Stanley route is better than the Newburn route.
The dogs along there were sort of enjoying their Scooby Doo style slides.

If anyone has tried and tested 'safer' North East winter route map please advise.
At least I have the skill of falling off my bike at a safe injury free speed.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Quck 12.5 miles to shake the dust off after night shift and i only had time for a quick spin before sunset, lumpy ride at only 18 mph average as my legs felt like lead.Probably the cold :cold:

37 slow miles in 4degrees. Lovely ride as I dressed right only my feet a tiny bit cold oh and my nose

Just a short one today - 10 miles over Lyth Hill and around the Longden area to test out my modifications to the knockabout bike.

The mudguard extensions seem to keep the worst of the mud off the bike and me and they didn't clatter about or fall off so I'm happy.

First trip out on my newly purchased 1996 Linear recumbent. 19 pain free miles. (no weight on my gammy shoulders) Smooth comfy ride - big grin. (Once I had learnt to set off) Managed a couple of Norfolk hills (fortunately has granny gearing!) Hills definitely are not going to be as easy as on my Triban - but at least I can get out and ride the Linear without being in agony. Youngest son has bagsied the Triban as I currently have 6 bicycles (5 of which I cannot ride at the moment) I have OPA with the Orthopaedic specialist on New Year's Eve - so will see if surgery is the only answer when I see him.....but at last in the meantime I can get out on a cycle again:smile: A further ride is planned for tomorrow.....weather permitting.

The enemy went out at stupid o'clock this morning, it was foggy and icy and not very light. She did a 30mile loop came off twice and nearly had a really bad crash on the ice. When she got home she was blue.

I did the same loop at 1pm and it was glorious, cold but lovely sunshine with no ice on the roads. Not many other cyclists out today. Wimps!

I was a bit dubious about ice for my ride today, especially when only one other rider turned up in town. It wasn't too bad though and when we got to the country side we were joined by another half dozen, which reassured me, as its their local roads. On one of the hills one of the riders had a chain snap, fortunately I had a kmc link and a tool and we were soon moving  Me and another then broke off for a longer ride looks like there has been a lot of clearing up after the floods out of curiosity I headed to the rowing lake path it was still flooded! It was turning into quite a nice day, so I went for what was supposed to be a wee recovery ride after that, however I spent half the ride battling the wind so probably worked harder to get round before dark (I didn't fancy icy roads in the dark ). When I turned out of the wind however, I realised I made a faux pa, I would have had plenty time to take things a little easier and would have still got home in the light.
