One of the villages where we went on our ride this morning has just been on one of the movie channels on Sky TV! The road down from Downham and then the brutal climb out towards Barley beneath Pendle Hill in Lancashire. Anyone guess which fillum? Fifty points if you get it now but deduct ten for every clue you need.

1. It was based on a story written by the wife of John Mills.

2. It starred John Mills' daughter in her first film role.

3. Made in 1961.

4. The kids of Barley/Downham were the real stars although Alan Bates was featured as....

5. "Jesus"

You must all have it by now.

I was channel-flicking earlier and noticed it was on. Its a nice part of the country down there

Very pleasant for the last few days. Nice and scenic so I'm glad I live here when it's like this. It can be bleak in rough weather though.

Sunday today but I got home at 3.30 Friday and went straight out on the bike and did 40 miles, in fact the comp clocked 40.01 as I stopped at my gate. (Had to finish the long way round to do that!) It was getting dark and cool as I finished, I was glad to stop and get a hot shower and a curry.

Had a busy Saturday fixing the fence after the cow broke through and ate my lawn (see post elsewhere on here) sweated a lot in the sun. Now in the lounge in the hotel in Lagos, Nigeria enjoying a pint of Gulder lager - yes, I have to drink lager sometimes. Legs still feel tired from Friday. Next a hot shower then a good sleep then up early for work tomorrow in sweltering tropical West Africa. Burp.

A gentle 40 miles including Dunbar and the back lanes of East Lothian. It was Mrs HJ first ride since the plaster cast came off her leg 10 days ago (the cast was on for 12 days following a mountain biking accident in Austria), so we weren't in a hurry. Weather was glorious and we had a great ride...

Got in another ride in the late afternoon sunshine. Total for the day 66.5 miles, woo! Such great weather, shame about the roads, I thought the traffic was horrific for some reason.

We headed to the Scottish Borders today those roads are always horrible days like today (when its sunny) that many mtbikers racing their cars down to Glentress. Being cyclists them selves you think they'd give you more room but it doesn't work that way .

Just a bit baffling, I expect that sort of thing on a bank holiday. A lot of fantastic views on weather like today though.
