My birthday ride 46 miles (one for every year) with a break at Ellis's Tearoom at Rothley on the Great Central Railway for tea and a bacon roll. If only every day could be like this morning - happy bunny.

Went through the lanes this afternoon but I found it just too hot to continue so I was only out for 45 minutes to one hour. I was averaging about 15 to 20 mph on the flats and got it up to just under 30 mph down a hill with multiple consecutive sharp turns. Thirty is probably the most I would ever want to go, for the time being at least.

And Happy Birthday Velvet! :birthday:

...

I love the photograph of the crops at sunrise, looks rather misty by the canal.
I'm also sure there is some kind of story behind the fire engine? Mind to share, I'm intrigued!

I felt there was some very strange things on my ride today http://connect.garmin.com/activity/208788056 There was an eerie brightness about everything and the temperature was disturbingly high. It got so warm, I almost had to discard my arm-warmers! We should all pray for an end to this apocalyptic weather or before you know it, the hosepipe ban status quo will apply.

Out with GordonB for a 60+ mile ride - up to Eye, Hoxne, then along the Waveney Valley to Bungay, then down to Huntingfield, Laxfield and back home. Very nice trip through beautiful countryside but the heat was a bit much in the last twenty miles or so.

At Homersfield, 26 miles out, there's a farm shop and caff, when GordonB kindly bought me a champion piece of victoria sponge (and tea). As we leave, GordonB is asked by one of the staff how far we've cycled. "About 25 miles". Strange look before replying: "How are you getting back?"

25 mile ride to work (left house at 5.15am ) then a 25 mile ride home. Weather was absolutely great. 23/24C, sun, and a cheeky wee tailwind.

Another 20 miler today. Went to see my friend via Harefield and into Rickmsnsworth.
Rather chuffed with 40 miles in 2 days.
He's invited me over for a beer/meal tonight as his wife & kids are watching athletics in the Olympic stadium.
Do i drive or take the bike?
Taxi back if i drive obviously
