Ride to and through the woods on the CX. Got overn enthusiastic and went axle deep in mud! Pulled myself out and carried on.

Liberating doing some different types of riding. All the short sharp pulses in power seem to be making my glutes ache which should be good for my road climbing hopefully.

20 muddy fun miles

Started cruseing at 6:50 am (couldn't sleep) So My journey was.
Birmingham City Centre tea stop - Cannon Hill Park (bigger than i thought it was) tea stop -Yardley tea stop- Birmingham City Centre tea stop and doctors.

3 mins from home the sky opend up and poured water and hail on me:biggrin: It was brilliant.
I could hardly see and my bottom half was soaked to the bone, top half dry thanks to Gortex (it really does work)

Fab day i met a whole mix of people who made me smile.

Today was meant to be a wee ride to Rutland Water before the rain.

It didnt work out that way, the heavens opened and I got a wee bit lost!
When I got back to the B&B however the sun was out again and it was very warm and I had 90miles on the clock. I couldn't leave it at that though, however at 95miles just when I thinking I should have refilled my bottle; perhaps 95 miles on one bottle and two bananas wasn't a good idea; the heavens opened yet again! The last 5 miles were pretty wet. After 100.2 miles, I thought I'd better pop into the B&B for a cup of tea and biscuits

Apart from the odd commute I haven't ridden much since my hip diagnosis. Mrs Cube look the kids to Nanna's for the weekend, and I decided I'd ride along the Rochdale Canal on the XC bike to see how far the hip would let me ride. My reasoning was that rather than commit to a loop I could simply turn round if it all started to hurt too much. I got as far as Sowerby Bridge and my Geography let me down. I ended up climbing over Sowerby to find a way to the upper end of the canal, but at least it put a bit on contour on the ride. Sowerby Bridge to Hebden Bridge proved to be comfy enough, and a nice stop for a cold drink in ColinJville in the lovely weather saw my optimism levels rising. I decided to see whether Todmorden was within reach, so set off and before I knew it was looking round the frontier town. I can't say it has much to recommend it as a tourist destination!!! A relaxed run back to Salterhebble and it was only in the last mile or so that my hip started to hurt.

I'd forgotten what a pleasure it can be just riding at a leisurely pace on simple surfaces....

Got a wee bit wet myself today, thundery showers made it an interesting (scary) ride.
33 miles of off road trail, even bumped into skudupnorth and 400bhp along route :hello:

Bike in in serious need of a clean now, it'll have to wait as it's on commuting duty in the morning :headshake:

Interesting ride yesterday. .

Convinced the Mrs to come on a club intro ride to Tatton. Just as she was getting used to riding in the group and enjoying it, we stopped as someone had a puncture, me and the gent in front turned onto a driveway which had a lip on the entry, we both spotted it and bunny hopped onto it. . . turned round to warn whoever was behind me and saw my wife sliding along the ground on her chin

Patched her up and we continued for a few miles to Tatton where their first aiders gave us some bandage/wipes etc. and we called the "parents with a campervan" rescue service.

I got to watch the Olympic Track Cycling whilst we were in A&E - a few stitches in her chin and sore knees/shoulder but ok otherwise. Hasn't put her off, we've ordered her some clipless pedals and she wants to go on the next intro in 2 weeks

She is obviously made of tough stuff  (Most importantly, the bike is fine)
