27.39 miles. Set off in brilliant sunshine, then rode through rain, hail and wind :cursing: These have been my first 'pleasure miles' this year TBH, and while I'm knackered having done Parkrun this morning as well I feel great for having been out. The only problem is the CAAD now looks like FD's bike above

Did a very rare Saturday commute today, windy but dry and bright.
The traffic was way worse than normal weekday traffic though, never done so much filtering

That's 7 days continuous working/commuting, need a rest but have a 47 mile forum ride tomorra, then a 10 mile commute later that night

This pic from yesterdays commute along the river, newly improved surface for a short stretch

Planned to 65 miles this morning, completed 8 before I broke a spoke on the front wheel (which went heinously out of true) and had to head home. Sods law was that it was drizzling enough to get covered in road crap and then brightened up as I got back to town!

Luckily the LBS fixed the wheel up so off out tommorrow instead (too?).

Went along there today with the Mrs. The surface was much improved, it was like a plowed field a few weeks ago. Not sure the grass seed they have put down has much of a chance though :S

My brother asked if I'd like to go for a ride with him (a rare event). We went on one of my shorter routes (16 miles) which he seemed to cope with well despite the wind, which was very gusty but made the return trip a lot faster than on the way out.

Overall a fun ride despite an odd incident with a BMW failing to overtake us on the approach to a blind bend. How hard can it be to pass two cyclists before the corner in a 200bhp car?

Makes a pleasant change for me depending on shift, where abouts did you end up?
I go TPT from Stockport > Manchester road, then down over Kingsway and along Wilmslow road to get back on the river after Stenner lane.
Do a lap or 2 of the health walk trail, then past Didsbury golf course on to Northenden.

Quick, but hilly 18 miles on the best bike - spring is here ! Avoided a longer run due to rain clouds in the direction I was heading, so hit the hills instead. Got showered on a couple of times, but nothing much as had no waterproofs. First test of the Selle Italia SLR saddle I bought in January - very comfy, despite it being minimal.

It threatened rain on heading out for the DCC bun run today but other than a few spits it never came to anything and it was a nicely paced ride  The majority of the club pulled into the first cafe (the Loganlea) but me and three others pressed onto Dollar and the Vanilla Pod Cafe. I'm glad I did I got a piece of Caramel Shortcake that was easily 3-4 times the size of offers elsewhere

Sixty nine miles in West and North Yorkshire on my new bike.

A comfortable ride.

I've very pleased with the bike.

100 miles on the dot today. Got the early morning train from Orpington to Ramsgate to meet the FNRttC for brekkie. Then myself, MartinT235, rb58 & Alberto cycled back. Left all the others at various places (They deserved their kip) and I carried on to work in Greenwich and back home to round it up to the 100.

Recced my "Hawkshead Brewery" forum ride - see the thread in the rides section for more details - come and join us!
First couple of hours were a meteorology study on the differences between rain, sleet and hail. The sun did make an appearance though.
A great mixed terrain 93 miles taking in some of the best bits of Arnside/Silverdale AONB, southern Lake District National Park and Lune Valley. Top "proper" coffee in Grange over Sands, excellent-as-ever soup at Wilfs Staveley (leek and potato).
Longest ride since French trip last June! Feeling it now though!!

Hi Vernon - that sounds great - I'm pleased the bike is going well. I'm very jealous. How does it compare to a road bike?

The lowest gear is around 17" - very similar to a 22 front 34 rear set up on my conventional derailleur tourers of the past.
The top gear spins out at around 26 mph which is fine as I don't intend to be a weekend warrior on it.
Handling is very stable on fast descents and I found it easier to maintain a cadence with the evenly stepped gears.
It's kitted with 26" x 1.5' tyres and the rolling resistance is a smidging more than my 700c x 28mm shod audax/light tourers.

I think that I need to raise the seat a tad and move it back but that's a minor tweak.
My average speed over the sixty nine miles was only a fraction down on what I normally ride at but I suspect that that was more to do with not enough regular calorie intakes during the ride than with the bike itself.

I'm very happy with the experience so far. Just need to sling on some panniers and tent and try it out in touring mode. I don't think that I will be disappointed.

A hilly 30 up through the Brickworks for me today. Managed the whole ride in the big ring, might be fit enough for the Peak 100 in April....
