I reckon the best day so far for cycling, unbroken sunshine and little wind. anyway it encouraged us to do a 50 mile ride with a local club plus we rode there and back so 77 miles with over a thousand metres of climb. Included in our merry band was an 81yr old!, probably doing around 17-18mph when I took this, he is 3rd from left:

Slow Ride and I cycled from Gallions Reach over to Hyde Park, stopped for lunch and a laze in the sun then home again. Only 24 miles total but a good start for our casual rides :-)

First ride out since October........ so went for a short one to get the legs back in (so to speak) and see how much fitness i'd lost. 8 miles was the distance, and i'm not quite as unfit as i thought i would be!

Nice ride in the late afternoon early evening.

43.4 miles out from North Leeds to Pool in Wharfedale then up through Stainburn, past Almscliffe Crag, on through North Rigton and Kirkby Overblow into Wetherby, cycle track to Boston Spa, Thorner, Bramley Grange and back home for a much needed cup of tea.

I went for a wee low paced 66miles today and I thought I'd try that HR hocuspocus ;) . It was pretty mild out but mostly grey with the occasional light showers with a deceptively consistent wind and I think I passed Seamab just west of Coalsnaughton. I was trying to keep my HR in zone 1 or below (around 130bpm) and I think I mostly succeeded, it was a bit awkward when I got back to town traffic, then I was 140-150bpm but still within the zone.

I managed to get out and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts (it's supposed to go cold again for the weekend apparently). Took my knockabout bike for a 40 mile circuit taking in Lyth Hill, Condover, Longnor, Cardington, Cressage, Wroxeter and Upton Magna. No idea how much actual climbing there is on this route but from the map my peak height was 866 feet (264metres) above sea level.
12.35mph average for the trip, which I'm pretty chuffed with on a bike that many would consider a BSO.:hyper:

Took my CAAD 9 out for her maiden voyage and loved every minute of it, did 18.5 miles in just over an hour so well pleased! Got a bit of soreness down below and my lower back is a bit stiff but the sun was shining and it was far better than work.

Have had nothing but good rides this week  Today I was at some lights waiting to turn left onto the A6. Saw a chap on the same model of bike (Triban 3) going up the hill through Stockport. Had to chase him when my lights turned green  Got past before the pub halfway up . . . although he wasn't trying to outrun me . . . still counts though  Assuming seeing someone with the same bike has that effect on everyone?!

Starting to see a few more cyclists now, quite a few with lovely orange chains, never seen those in stock anywhere . . .

Dropped car for a service, rode home 17 miles, back in less than an hour, best speed 32.7mph, passed two coppers sat in their van in layby with a speedgun, gave me a wave.
Sunshine and all amazingness. Short sleeves!

Ignoring forecast of possible sleety showers (whhaaat?) on Sunday. I have laid shorts out to take with me tomorrow. Spring is coming, bring it on!

Intended to do 32 miles from Stockport, up into Disley and over Kettleshulme. I took a wrong turn and ended up doing a shade over 35 miles total

It's my longest ride so far, having done 23 miles a few weeks ago. 2800ft of climbing did hurt a little bit but I thoroughly enjoyed it, despite nearly hitting a dead badger and being scared half to death by a massive farm rottweiler when I stopped for something to eat.

I saw a club ride coming the other way up Pott Shrigley, didn't get chance to see which club though.

Route is here - http://connect.garmin.com/activity/154334264#.T1HyRcSfVMc

The Mrs now wants to go out for a ride so it is MTB time :S Think my legs will protest tomorrow.

Cycled over to the brewery yesterday and bought a few bottles - it's not far enough away, in cycling distance, to counteract the calorific value of the beer but still a noble effort. Probably. Hic.

I headed out from Northampton, doing a recce for the LonJog "training ride" in 3 weeks time. It was grey, raining with a gusting headwind and generally miserable heading south, but the weather brightened up, the sun came out and in the middle of nowhere, I came across Clivedb going the other way, so we stopped for a chat.

I ended up doing about 65 miles at over 15 mph average which I'm pleased with, considering the headwind and that this is the longest ride I've done this year. Fantastic views across the Vale of Aylesbury.

Although due to the amount of mud on the roads, I'm going to have a busy Sunday.
