102Km out to Rutland, lovely weather, legs killing me though - seems the 2 weeks off the bike due to flu are having an effect. Nice to ride in sunshine though!

Lovely 21 miles around the rural lanes of Euxton and Leyland. Beautiful weather, if a little chilly on the toes. Much nicer than the quick 16 mile shower I took yesterday morning.

Lovely ride today 45+ miles. Set out at 6.45 to meet my nephew at 7.00 we headed off from dartford towards farningham, through eynesford, to otford, along the A25 through westerham. We turned right and headed up titsey hill, right at the top towards westerham hill and turned left up church hill along and up sunningvale avenue to biggin hill airport, of to Keston, Orpington, st Mary's cray, north cray, bexley then back to dartford. All in 3:03 average about 14.8 mph so not tooo bad :0) it was sunny but very cold.

58 miles today in bright winter sunshine. Temperature was -1c when I left the house and up to 5c by the the time I got home. Quite a strong NW headwind at parts and a few icey bits on the back roads

Only did 13 today as I'm just getting back into increasing my rate of exercise because of diet.
Did a couple more miles than I wanted to though.
Went out with GF's eldest. After 6 1/2 I looked back and he wasn't there so I stopped and waited. He didn't come round the last bend so after a couple of mins I decided to go back and look in case he'd met with the fairy (he carries no tools, pump, tubes etc.). I started to back track and went back to last village I remember him being behind me. Only 1/2 mile. I phoned home to see if he'd turned up, he hadn't. It was now quicker for me to go back the way I'd come.
When I got home I found he'd decided to bail out when I turned left and go back the shortest (but also the hilliest) route.
GF said when he got home he sat outside the back door and couldn't move for about 10 mins. He was exhausted. I'd taken it steady as he doesn't get out on his bike much.
If he'd stuck with me he'd have had an easier ride. And so would I .
My routes are here on Sports tracker.

Had a Eureka moment today and rode out to Rutland Water from Bourne and back again. The first part was a straightforward ride on B roads, the second half from Rutland, some beautiful unclassified roads. Villages of Empingham & Clipsham were gorgeous. Had a nice chat with an old boy at the cafe in Whitwell.. Choc Orange cake looked tasty (not enough pennies taken to taste).
Tomorrow going to explore the highly reccomended Wymondham Windmill Tea rooms!

Day off work today so I headed off for a few hours armed with a flask of coffee and a couple of cheese rolls. 60 miles through Hertfordshire & Buckinghamshire, with a stop at Tring reservoir for lunch.

After yesterday's slow 35 miler, deliberately pacing my self so as not to aggravate my cough, which was successful, I thought I'd do it again, only got 15miles before bumping into mates  After I left them I returned to the same slow steady pace. After around 31 miles I passed two blokes on Bianchis on a long, but not steep hill, their astoundment/ comments as I cruised made me feel good. I didnt have the heart to tell them though, I've done the climb nearly a minute faster. In the end I ended up with another 35 miles in the drizzle, jut after I got back the forecasted sun came out, sod's law!
