78.7 miles on the carbon, first time out on the
Ribble Sportive this year. Left Clevedon at about noon, headed for Wrington and then climbed Burrington Coombe, along the spine of the Mendips and then doubled-back for a nice descent into Cheddar Gorge. Still snow melting up on the hills and was a fair bit damper than the rest of the ride. I then took the road to Wedmore, on to Glastonbury, Street and then the A39 to Bridgwater, turning off at Woolavington and ending up back in Wedmore, Cheddar and back on the A38 and then through Winscombe and Congresbury, home.
Very windy in places and, I think, colder by a few degrees than they said it would be. Many thanks to the peanut in a transit and trailer who thought for a moment about my priority over a single-lane bridge, and then reasoned that I was a cyclist after all and that therefore the same rules didn't apply.
I uttered, gesticulated even, my justified outrage followed by a suitable profanity.
