An evening jaunt out to gaze at the wonders of Wetherby by night. Having been off the bike for over a week due to feeling under the weather I took it easy and didn't even break sweat. I was surprised that the average was just under 15mph. I set off in the wet but returned under a clear starlit sky.

Set off into pouring rain that stopped about 1 minute into my ride this morning . . then a brief hail shower started as I was going downhill. Turns out that stuff stings at 25mph, who knew?! Still enjoyed the ride though!

Averaged over 16mph over both commutes yesterday with a game of squash in between, I was pleased to be doing 14.5mph a couple of weeks ago! Getting better slowly.

40 miles in lovely sunshine and a strong steady draining cold wind....got back into town where the inevitable lowlife car drivers live...I was on th eroundabout when the moron came steaming at me onto th eroundabout at speed...I swered to avoid him hitting me...he slows down winds down passenge rwindow and hurls abuse....I tell him to look, he tells me he saw me and that cyclists shouldnt be on the road....I request he leave my life...he harrasses me for about 110 yds down the high street...with me laughing at him all the way...SCUM..just SCUM

It was a beautiful day but icy so I buried my head in books all morning, at 2pm though I'd had enough and went for a wee ride to some local villages (I decided if there was any ice or I was late back I was better to stick to the coast). On the way back though I started to gt caught in the school run traffic, particularly when I re entered the town and took some local rat runs (now closed to cars :becool:).

Home - Marton-in-the-Forest - Snargate Hill - Gilling East - B1363 - Helmsley - Harome - Hovingham - Coulton Lane End - City of Troy (Maze) - Whenby - Marton - Home.

35.57 miles. Up through the AONB and back again. Rained for about 2.5 hours, spray & grot everywhere, mouthfuls of fluvial deposits had me spitting grit all day. Traffic light apart from the B1363 and even that not too bad. Extended lunch at Helmsley Castlegate Cafe, ie rained off!

Potentially, it could have been pretty icy on our Bun Run today, it had been -4 deg overnight but we modified the route to go by main roads (Tillicoultry) and it wasn't too bad. Until after the cafe stop, near noon when we went up a hill we normally go down (Dollarbeg), it was still covered in ice

Edit: the coffee was very welcome indeed, more so for its warmth than taste

Lots of sun and blue skies for my road bike's first ride in over a month, not to mention a rather delicious slice of fruit cake at the community coffee shop in North Curry. What more could a girl ask for?

In your case another slice of cake

Got the trek out today and headed north.

Wisbech>gayton>brancaster beach (i carried the bike on and off ... if i was on the mountain bike i would have pedalled) and then
across to hunstanton>kings lynn>wisbech.

Willy wave time ... see here: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/145274976

85 miles in 7 hours. I paced myself from the off with the aim to cover around 75 miles "with energy to spare".
I arrived home after 85 miles feeling good, so 100 miles is well within my target.
(Nice hills east of sandringham, had lactic acid leaking out of my legs at the top of one!)

I can't believe how sprightly the trek feels compared to the coyote everglades (my evening training bike).
There's only 2kg difference in weight between the two ... i can only think the spinning weight in the wheels is greater on the coyote?

Should crack 600 miles this month.

Went for my first "proper" non commuting ride today. I planned a 26mile route that included a couple of hills (route here). I was unsure whether I would manage them both but as I got to the top of the 1st hill the road gradually turned into an ice rink so I couldn't find out!

After descending back down the hill sticking to a car tyre wide patch of tarmac surrounded by snow - I did 16miles overall. A bit disappointing that I couldn't go all the way but encouraging that I think I had the legs to carry on if it wasn't for risk of a buttock/tarmac meeting. Average temp of -2C was interesting too :S

Did a 22 miles ride last week going east to west. Today, decided to do exactly the same ride but from west to east. Both rides took me exactly the same time: 1h40. But the second ride took more out of me. I was absolutely knackered when I got home and famished!
