A bit warmer up here today 1degC, rising to 5 and a good number of us turned up at the Glen Gates for what was the best cycling day of the year so far, light winds, light white clouds and patches of blue. The only disappointment was with all of yesterdays ice melting the roads were quite mucky. We headed east up the coast to the Three Chimneys Cafe (Fife's own area 51) and got back 75 miles later. We had one mechanical out of the norm, the commonwealth track sprinter with us shook her brake hanger loose, she's that strong in a sprint and it didn't slow her down much

A somewhat chilly and hilly 22 miles for me.
Not helped by the fog not lifting till about 1020, when I'd been wanting to be out by 0845.

My routine is 8 km warm up, stop for a coffee at a service station and then decide where I am going after checking weather, traffic and other thngs. I felt great getting to the coffee stop, decided to try a new route of about 100 kms. Got off the bike and the back wheel was locked - I had popped a spoke in the back wheel. Now I am back home and will get to the LBS as soon as it opens - about £2 to replace the spoke and true the wheel.
I will do that new loop tomorrow - I hope!

61.5miles, thanks to getting detached from the group  (I got stuck behind 3 slow tractors), after 20 odd minutes I got the call telling which way they had went to the cafe  To get back on track in the City I stopped and asked a woman hovering her car, is this way to Bridge of Allan, she looked at me as if Br of Allan was miles from North Stirling and unreachable (its only about 2.5 miles ). As I entered the town, I stopped to check the direction which I promptly & correctly got from an older lady, then the penny dropped and she said 'ah you'll be looking for ###### he's in Cafe up there on the right' a celeb & mate, it really made her day. It was nice to also have dry roads for a change

It was our club's first reliability run (Tourist TT) of the year. It wasn't very promising looking though at first, it was a tad frosty. We headed up to the base of Cleish Hill so there was quite a bit of climbing at the start and that soon warmed us up! We the cut by Saline down to Dollar; it was a tad slushy icy en route. After then though we were mainly on the flat and the weather improved tenfold and by the time we got back to the Glen 48.53miles later (at an ave of 17.1mph) the sun was starting to come out. En route however, we done a strange thing, we passed Corrieris without stopping

Yesterday I went out at for a twenty five mile loop in the snow and found it much less challenging than anticipated. Meanwood - Otley - Otley Chevin - Guisely - Kirkstall - Meanwood

Stunning picture coffeejo.

I saw a couple of kestrels and an owl on my seventy mile ride today. The roads were well gritted but it was very cold and the temperature didn't rise above freezing point all day.

First ride out post the flu that kept me in bed for two weeks bit hard breathing but ok provided I didn't up the pace very much. Did 85Km - only set out to do 30 odd but well the roads looked clear so thought i'd do my 70km route to Naesby. Upon entering the frozen wastelands of Naesby discovered my route back was covered in snow so rode back the way I came. Note to self eat something before doing longish bike rides...

Feet frozen, rather tired but I survived!!

Went up The Struggle in Ambleside with son no2, which climbs to about 1500ft in 2.5 miles. Lots of sections of 13% and 20% at the top. The road still had lots of slushy snow on it and it was extremely foggy. We managed the first batch of 13% climbs but we had to push a few others and when we came back down, conditions were too bad to let the bikes go so we had to control our descent. Bloody good fun though for a quick hours adventure.

Can't see anything ? LOL.

Very quick 10 miler with a good climb in the middle - dead steady 5/6% (GB155's little blast from Hyde to Hattersley) then I swung back through Gee Cross and home. Still some shocking traffic about - gas works and a main road is up too.
