Only 58.97 today. Average speed of 18.27mph. Not bad ride, went to one cafe to find it closed. And me and someone else had put effort in to get there first. Got to the next cafe and had beans on 3 peices of toast for £2.55. Not bad i though. Then it was back keeping a high-ish speed and then me and someone else put some power in, in the last few miles and were charging along doing about 27mph for a few miles, then into a headwind doing 25mph. What scared us slightly was in Burton Joyce when we were going along a main road, 2 young-ish(my age) girls on horses just came out. If we had been going slightly faster and hadnt slowed down slightly we would of hit themxx(
Oh and the girls in the cafe werent bad either!

On probably the coldest day since the snow melted in April, I forced myself out for a 20 miler. Autumn is well set here now, and it was quite a depressing ride, as there was only a grey blanket of cloud and not a ray of sunlight to be seen anywhere.

Cycled through a local park and to my utter surprise there was a cricket festival going on. Being curious, and an ex-cricketer I went and had a look. Needless to say there weren't many Norwegians playing, the majority of players and spectators were Sri Lankans. Managed to find the refreshment tent and instead of bog-standard sarnies in England, I had a very nice chicken curry and cup of tea.

It warmed me no end to see these happy people playing cricket in such cold and basic conditions. I felt a lot better after that. And had a strong yearning for a game of beach cricket somewhere hot!

Only went for a short 25 mile ride today as I had no bottles (in the dishwasher) but the weather was nice despite being very windy. Went along some of Tuesday's ToB stage. Some of them are going to be very tired come the final KoM climb! Interesting to see a lot of the road has been resurfaced but still rough in quite a few places

Just got back from the Guildford Cycle Challenge. Lovely ride, but the lanes were treacherous - water, mud and loose gravel. I seemed to be on the brakes for every decent to slow me down. The 21% climb was a killer.

Unlike what I did as a younger rider ..ahem.... take an energy drink and something to munch on.... you'll expend anything from 800-1000 cals an hour of hard effort - it needs replacing..... I think I munched about 3000 cals on the go today....

Had a very relaxing 35 miles, over a route I hadn't ridden in a long while. Should of been 4 of us, only I was able come the hour, but met another soloist, Steve, and we carried on together for most of the way. And the weather turned out nice for 10 minutes too!
