was up in Beverley yesterday 18 mile slogfest as fast as you canxx( and then a further 35 mile ride with Velo Club Beverley would have been 50 but was too fooked after the slogfest ,good cafe stop though:biggrin: luckily it didnt rain !!!!!

Well first ride since end of April, I know, I know. An easy 10 miles just to ease myself back and no hills 'cause I've moved.

Oh what joy not to ride on singletrack hilly roads. My 10 miler where I used to live involved at least 3 or 4 hundred feet of ascent; today, 70 feet . I don't think my cadence went below 70 and the happiness of bowling along at 19/20mph writing my name on the sides of the buses as they come past, only to stop 10 yards later. Slipping in and out of traffic, fantastic when you're just used to sheep and trees, I'd forgotten what I've been missing.

29.98miles done in 1.31.03, so averaged 19.76mph or something like that. Lovely ride, nice weather, average was above 20mph at one point, but came down on the long hill on the way back.
Saw mum, who was surprised to see me not in school. She said she changed directions to come after me, but as i was going down Porchester road doing over 30mph she was just joining it after trying the short cut. Got home before her and her first words were "why arent you at school?"
I dont know if it was because she thought i should be in lesson, or because she would of left me a list of jobs to do

I hope you're better at cycling than your other alleged "good at" pursuit.

After getting soaked on my commute in, I managed to dry my kit out. That done I thought I'd go out for a 30miler after work. It was great - until 8 miles from home, halfway up a pig of a hill, with a fully laden pannier - it absolutely pissed it down. What is it about riding in the rain that makes me feel so good? Is it the cyclists' inner masochist?
