Club ride on the fixed today, 50/60 miles, first half hilly and windy. My legs werent hurting as much as i would of thought, felt like throwing up at the top of one long steep-ish hill with a headwind, managed not to though. Was with a group off the back, one person was struggling, most went off which annoyed one of the guys as we could of done with a group to help the guy that was struggling. On the way back from the cafe there was a tailwind and the group was doing 27mph. Did about 5-10miles at that speed spinning like mad, finally gave up going down a hill and just relaxed, was still one person behind though. The older guy that was struggling waited to show which turn off i needed to take, and after abit he said he was going to turn off, so i went and went infront of him for the way back with a head wind.
Loved it, nice ride, felt really pleased when i got to the top of the hills when there were people behind on carbon bikes struggling.
Legs feel abit tired now. Gonna' be out again tomorrow on the fixed, will be off to LBS to get a computer for it tomorrow and some bottle cages.
Am just gonna sit here now with my feet up and not move:becool:

Went to York yesterday. Took the trailer. Bought some bike bits, including new cycling shoes, a gallon of petrol for the mower and a load of groceries.

Then had to haul it all 10 miles home and up the hill - about 30kg I reckon.

Think I earned the chinese I picked up on the way back.

Oh yes, and it rained quite a bit.

With errands like that to do, who needs recreational cycling?

Funnily enough, I've carried petrol around in cars for hundreds of thousands of miles, and it's never once blown up....

<Pedant mode> ... except in very small quanities when mixed with air and squirted into a cyclinder and a spark applied...</pedant mode>

...so I figured it was reasonably safe to carry a rather smaller quantity in a bike trailer.

Well, I decided to risk a bike ride this afternoon. Wrapped up warm with my bikesters, cycling top and jumper. Normally wear shorts and a t-shirt but I'm recovering from the tail end of a cold/cough so didn't want to risk it. 29.10 miles in the end in just over two hours. My legs are quite sore now though, might have overdone the first ride in 8 days when still a bit snotty. Took it fairly easy though and was glad of the jumper when cycling along Llyn Ogwen, the headwind was rather chilly then. All in all a very enjoyable ride, despite flagging near the end and having to contend with some nasty crosswinds. I'm feeling fine still, and hopefully will stay this way!

I had a great ride with Dan Bo of this parish today. Cheers Mr Bo!

From here, over the Snake to Sheffield and then a superb cake stop at Edegsomething Park.

We over indulged on the well above average cake on offer and both felt a bit sick on the climb over towards Hathersage - feeling better by the top we were able to enjoy the fast run down and over to Bamford to finish the loop which left us with a very wind in your face ride back over the Snake.

An excellent hilly ride nearly spoilt by some lots of Neanderthal driving. I've received and given more rude gestures today than in the whole year since January. I slapped my first bus today and really wish I'd thought about trying to remember it's reg .

Anyway - it didn't spoilt the ride, we were very calm (ish) about most of it .

did a cheeky 20 after an afternoon at work with the kids in the swimming pool. mostly slightly undulating cheshire lanes with the climb of macclesfield road (alderley edge up to the wizard) to give it a bit of bite.

damn it was windy, but 16.8mph average nonetheless.

20 miles commuting this week, would have been 25, but had to get to the bank in a hurry yesterday, so took car to work...gasp!! Got up early this morning and did 40 miles.

Only 35 commuting miles for me. Monday I had to take the pool car so couldn't cycle in and the other mornings I've been watching the Olympics and only had to take shorter route. Out side of that I've only done a 33miler.

27miles on the fixed yesterday. Was lovely out, not much wind. Got an average of 18.38mph or something. Spent ages spinning, climbed the hills that i did well and loved it. Got used to the fixed even more now, just need to get used to the gear size, then make it bigger so i can keep up with the chain-gangs on club rides:evil:
No idea how much i've done this week, something like 158miles or around there thats logged down.
