Wet and windy today, a very stiff headwind going home...and to add insult to injury, i've got a knee problem....bursitis i think. Inside of my knee's painful and slightly 'clicky'. Been building up a few days....so a few days off the bike methinks.

Nice fresh 20 mile round trip to Jujitsu.

Wasn't such a good idea riding there, as I almost collapsed during some of the sprint/punch/press up/ star jump combos. Everyone else drove and were fresh - go figure - I had 10 miles in my legs and they took the mickey saying I looked out of breath from just putting my Gi on!!!

Nice return ride, sedate, dark lanes, no traffic, owls, foxes, deer and rabbits.

Lots of stars out too.

I could get into astronomy from rides like that!

30 miles...set out at lunchtime, so 12 miles to a cafe i know, two eggs on toast and a mug of tea  .
Plenty of Red Kite out there and lots of low flying Harriers...the RAF variety  . So i set off on a small detour to RAF Wittering in the hope of catching them on take off or landing. Fat chance, no sooner i'd got there.....they stopped. I love the roar as they pass over. Still, i still had one pass low on the way there.

Quite breezy out there but rode sideways (if you know what i mean) and avoided most of it.

Peterborough, Wansford, Kings Cliffe, Wittering, turn round and back to KC, onto Old Sulehay (wierd name !), Yarwell, Nassington, Elton and back to base.

I read that and just for a minute thought you must be visiting Japan

Not that good really. I went out on my new Roberts Tourer and even though I have now replaced the 32mm tyres with 28mm I still found it hard going. This is the first real Touer I have ever owned and quite honestly they lack of response I get from it is disappointing to me.
I think for local rides I am going to use my racer as it seems more fun but obviously when I do set off an adventure I will use the Roberts.
Some of you may be able to confirm this But think that once the Roberts is loaded up I will see a signiicant difference in the quality of ride and performance.

Perhaps this was a bad ride because I am now reviewing whether I want to stick with my Brookes B17 cycle as well because it seems to be taking ages to wear in.

Still life cannot be too bad as tomorrow we are taking the grandchildren to Disneyland Florida where I hope I will also get some time to hire a bike and cycle in the sun

6 mile round trip to work last night, just pulling into the car park when I noticed my rear V-Brake was suddenly moving about on it's own. Was running late so I locked up the bike and did a 12-hour shift.

Come the morning, I examined the bike before setting off home to find the rear wheels' rim had split on one side, leaving a gash about 2 inches across. Fortunately it was still just rideable so I had a very slow commute home.

On the upside I treated myself to a new Shimano RS30 wheel + hub + HG50 8 speed cassette (which replaces my horrible old freewheel screw on thingy.)

My LBS love me right now.

it was a bit bit grey and merky at times, but still pretty warm for october and the teacake ride is always fun...

27 miles for me today, a mix of a pre work 17 miles then 10 after, then home.
Its near the city, but the river was full of swans, on the fields in the distance and an abundance of geese all of a sudden, V formations all over the place. A sure sign autumn's coming.

Lights are on the Bianchi, so commuting on it again. Nice to be on a light agile bike again.

Rode up to Macclesfied 6:30 am really tranquil dark no cars until I got to Prestbury where a lovely man in a black Golf decided that he didn't want to see me despite the strobe and 5 watt front light. I sort of anticipated it and swerved and avoided being t boned. I don't mind a mistake if the driver acknowledges his error but to then be close passed with his foot on the floor is not apology in my book. Nice fast ride back home though this afternoon.
