A very hilly 35 miles at the end of the day. Pot Shrigley, Brick Works, Pym Chair, Goyt Valley, Cat and Fiddle, Macc and home. Going to sleep well tonight. All good.

No time for any decent mileage, but commuting has its moments (not all good).

JUST rode out of work a couple of evenings ago, to be nearly knocked off by a female car driver from the factory next door. Then she had the audacity to rev and spin her wheels (i assume in fustration). We all make mistakes, but i rounded on her at that point and berated her for her impatience. Another cyclist rode by at this point and shouted...'well said that man'

Just rode out this morning for a bit of an extended commute, approached a R/A turning right, i can see a new BMW coupe thats going to have to stop to allow me my right...no, he couldnt see me for the blind spot in his door/window pillar and forced me to take avoidance.. I mouthed 'FFS' at him....he stopped..i thought 'here we go'..and he put his hand up and apologised. A wink and hand up from me, alls well. We all make mistakes, its nice when someone acknowledges it, and deserves 'forgiveness'.

Nice section of about a mile this morning, draughting a bus...brilliant. The most effortless 23mph ive done in ages..

Last night, met the wife as i was going home...shes talking to some kids with a WRK tricycle. It turned out it was stolen from the special needs school she works at (actually there were 3 stolen). Took it off them and pushed it back to school. Apparently they cost £350 to £500 each. Jesus. Funnily enough, we've got a gypsy encampment nearby for the last few day. Hmmmm

Felt a bit off colour this morning and thought I might give the Sunday ride a miss, managed to haul my carcass in a bike-ward direction and got to the usual meeting place for 8am. Had a really nice ride and two stingingly steep but mercifully not too long hills worked their magic on a 'kill or cure' basis. Back home for Marmite toast and tea - feeling quite good now!

Had a great club run today. Not sure of total distance due to my computer blowing a gasket, but it would have been 70-80 miles.
From Sunderland out through Durham into Weardale, up the valley to Stanhope. Then the long slog over Crawleyside, and a much welcome cafe stop at Parkhead. Large numbers of c2c riders making there way up the hill, nice to see so many.
Returned via Lanchester to Sunderland, weather was a bit of a mixed bag but still very enjoyable.

I intended to bury myself on the bike this weekend and did just that! Yesterday I rode 50 miles to Hallaton and back on my Airnimal, the last 25 were into the wind. And today I went to Kineton and back on my roadie, completing 76 miles, the first 35 into the teeth of the gale, the remainder were 'wind assisted'. So that makes 126 miles in one weekend which I'm well happy with. Aching all over - very satisfying!

Pouring down this morning so I sussed up how to work the new Drift X170. Went out in the afternoon for a quick local 14 mile spin that was great, till Volvo man tried to overtake on a sharp blind bend and met 4*4 man coming the other way, Volvo man pulled in sharp to the left and SWMBO was nearly widow SMIMBO. Words were Yha F****** Stupid T*** but I kept moving. Volvo man overtook five mins later very subdued Rest of ride was great but a pity I did not have the Drift on at the time. When told what had happened SWMBO started to check up on life insurance policys with help of calculator.

What is it with people  Every now and again, people seem to let their brains go AWOL.
Extended commuting in Peterborough, circa 10 miles each way Monday and today...tonight i was forced into the road by a female ped just meandering across the road in front of me on a bend...van had to take evasive action as he overtook me at the same time. She seemed oblivious...i rode past and said (forcefully but not shouting)..'No rush eh  ' Quite smartly dressed...not your usual scruffy ones with attitude, probably east european then !!

The amount of young people on the roads, peds and riding bikes (i dont call them cyclists) many of them walking or riding all over the road. Fcukwits one and all.

Rant over  Lovely weather for riding at this time of year, even the nutcases didnt spoil it...and ironically i'm moaning about cyclists and peds...the traffic in peterborough was well behaved, much as usual.

Windy, showery this morning so held off till this afternoon...still windy and showery
So just a slightly sub 20 miles, heavy going into wind, lovely with a tailwind, damp, occasionally wet, neither here nor there really. No surprises, no wildlife...ah well...at least i got out.

Winter bikes getting more use now, wont be long before the Bianchi's put away for the winter.

Bailed out of the club ride to Hanbury today, tweaked my back at work a couple weeks ago and its still not right so instead had a ride out to Wootton Wawen. A bit of a rough ride, blowing a hoolie and cold, put in 56 miles and I'm a bit sore now. My cycling has been a bit frustrating recently, brought myself a new bike about three weeks ago and have managed four rides on it so far., on every one its been blowing a hoolie and two have included a good wetting on the way back, so no chance to really enjoy it yet.

First 'night ride of the year (apart from the local FNRttC) - the usual 10 mile loop, though the dark, drizzle & cold make it a different, if a refreshing experince.

Good light a necessity - well to scare the rats offf anyway:sad:

20 miles just pootling (ish).
No wind, mild, river's as still as a millpond, out to Whittlesey, back...then the same again. Quiet as a grave, just the occasional 1/2 mile long goods train in the distance...and nothing else but birds, cormorants, woodpeckers, gulls, GC grebe, possibly a little grebe, various duck, moorhen, coot, heron, pheasant, swans..oh, and a crow doing acrobatics on a telephone wire, hanging by his beak for some reason  , christ knows what he was doing  .

I love these country cyclepaths....no traffic, nothing. Perfect.

Regular commute of 2x10 miles. Firstly I got scalped this morning. Not unusal for many, but in 20 months of cycling back and forward to work I have never seen another commuter, never mind been passed by one.

Run home was a dream, the very short town bit was quick, not usual for 5pm in a university town. The wind was very light and slighly off my back and I jumped on the back of tractor and trailer and got a draft for 2 miles.
