Great ride this morning
Started in Chew Magna just after 7:30 heading up Harptree Hill which soon had the temperature rising. Continued over the Mendips before the fast descent into Wells. A quick coffee and then onto Wookey Hole and the climb of Ebhor Gorge which gave way to some fantastic views across Somerset, then through Priddy and then down into Cheddar for a coffee and cake before the climb out again and back to Chew. 60kms in total with 900 metres of climbing !

Went out today with my 13 year old son . lovely weather.

Headed from home Renfrew into Paisley on to cycleroute 7 heading for Kilmalcom.
Stopped for an ice cream at the Cross Cafe. Then headed up the West Glen road then turned left and headed towards Langbank then right up by the Equestrian centre into Bishopton to visit my Mum as she's just out of hospital after having her left hip replaced for the 3rd time.
Cycled back along the A8 to Renfrew and home.
Just short of 30 miles with a few hills
Proud of my son only his second outing 95miles combined
His first outing being the Pedal for Scotland 51 miles Glasgow Edinburgh. The extra miles were from cycling to Glasgow Green from Renfrew and back again, total for first outing 65miles----- with no training!!!

30 miles today. Just got back in. Set off and just went down a few lanes I'd not been down before. I like finding new routes and villages. Can't seem to get my ave speed up above 14mph though I did get up to 35 downhill freewheeling  .

No CycleChat Bromley Massive ride to London today.
Instead a few of us (myself, Clive and Andrew) decided to hit the Kent lanes.

A cold start but the sun was breaking through. A few hills was all it took to warm us up and even got a little heated by the time the three of
us scaled Cudham Hill. All of us without getting off and walking..

A few more hill exersions and we were rewarded with a little rest and a very nice view over the Downs.

3 Specialized Roubaix.. (what is this.. some sort of fan boy convention or summat?)

So onwards through the Autumnal sunshine.. up few more hills and a few down. We reached Eynsford.
Did the lads dare ride through the Ford?.....Of course not..

They took the bridge instead. (The bridge is 17th Century btw)

We passed the Victorian Train Viaduct carrying trains from Bromley to Sevenoaks.

And Eynsord Castle.

Through the pretty village of Farningham, through Horton Kirby we skirted the Brands Hatch racing circuit to hit the hidden Knatts Valley.
Hard to believe this is only a mile or so outside of the M25.
From here it's a 3 mile ride downhill back to Farningham

From Farningham a few more climbs, up over the M25 to Crockenhill.. then down to the Crays, we hit the A20 to drop Clive back at Chiselhurst in time
for Pumpkin hour and Andrew in Bromley. Was going to do a few more miles but decided to drop in on Chez Arallsopp for a well deserved cuppa..

60 Miles for the day for me with approx 3500ft climbing... see y'all next week.

Nice write up and pics Ian. Really enjoyed that despite the cold. I think we should do it again. When it gets frosty the views will be even better !

Got my jobs done, then nipped out for a quick 1hr 15 mins - 19.5 miles with over 1900 feet of climbing, and no more than 5 miles from my house as the crow flies. Took a load of back lanes out near 'Rowarth' and Charlesworth (Stockport for non locals) lots of climbing, no cars, and some lanes were more suitable for MTB's..... Fantastic views over the Cheshire Plane and Derbyshire. Than tackled Gorsey Brow in Broadbottom - 400 feet climb in less than half a mile.... you know it's steep when the walls have hand rails on them. Real sting in the tail, as the last 200 yards are by far the steepest.

Back home, put sunday roast in oven, bike washed, missus car washed and hovered, roast out of oven.

Left the house this morning and was wondering what I had let myself in for, I was uncomfortably cold at the start, and things didn't warm up until I reached my destination (where I turned around).

Todays trip was a 50km run from Mangotsfield in Bristol, to Hawkesbury Upton on the cotswold ridge and back. Surprisingly quiet roads helped, and the traffic lights in Yate gave me reason to slow down, travelled through Chipping Sodbury and across Sodbury Common, to face the only real climb of the journey, Horton Hill, which is part of the cotswold ridge in South Gloucestershire, an unpleasant slow, short and steep climb up onto the cotswold ridge. Stopped for a break on top of that one, then continued on to Hawkesbury upton, where I stopped for another break and a drink before making the return journey (much the same way as I came, but taking a detour past the Kendleshire golf course and joining the Bristol-Bath railway path on it's westerleigh spur, which took me back to Mangotsfield. Total time from leaving house to returning home was about 2h45m. 700ft of climbing (and descending on the return journey!)

Barnet,
Sundays ride was 40 miles from St.Albans, out through Redbourne, Gaddesdon Row, Whipsnade, Dunstable, Markyate, Harpenden, Wheathampstead and back to St Albans. Some very steep hills around Dunstable up and down from the downs but very do-able. Total climbing is about 1550 feet. A bit cold at the start but warmed up around midday. My computor went wild after Markyate, saying my average speed was 34.5 mph, and added an extra 29.9 miles to the total. It must of been a power line or something interfering with it. It took three hours and 15 mins to cover the route.
