Having challenged myself to do three century rides over three days, today I completed the final ride.

Day 1, from Beverley out to Castle Howard and a jaunt round the Howardian Hills. 103 miles 6hrs 13mins

Day 2, from Beverley, Goole, down to Thorne near Doncaster, and back across the Humber Bridge, picked this ride as it is symbolic as we wear the old Darley's brewery emblem on our jersey's as we are a pub cycling club and it used to be a Darleys pub, thought I would go and have a look at the old brewery. Once again 103 miles 6hrs 27mins.

Day 3, from Beverley down to Welton and zigzagged up the wolds till I got to Flamborough head and returned back via Driffield. Just under 90 miles was in the wolds going up and down hills. 108 miles. 6hrs 45mins. Finished very strong over the last 15 miles, averaging over 18mph to get the overall average up to 16mph

All rides I planned on achieveing 16mph average speed, and I managed it, a[part from day 2, 15.9mph. Only problem being on your own is having to carry all your drink and food as you cannot guarantee finding a safe place to leave your bike to pop into a shop for a resupply.

Off for a pint now, and club run tomorrow.

35 miles this morning (2400ft climbing) checking out first half of the October Braveheart Ride 2010 Route.

Nice, sunny day, bit of a breeze, lots of other cyclists out in the country and lots of great views from up on Eaglesham Moor and Bonnyton Moor.

Went out with the club today. The pace started leisurely and was simply a nice chatting pace. But, after about 10 km, the pace quickened and we were pushing 35-37kph pretty steadily. It was good ride, fairly flat and the sprint for home was hard work - I hit 48kph in the mad dash for the line. We started with about 10 riders and as we passed other cycle groups, they jumped on the back. I think we had a peleton of around 50-60 in the end - was quite a blast. The good news was that the team manager accepted my wife on to the cycle team and as long as she passes the medical exam, will be a full fledged team member. He wants to expand his female race team. A good day - and nice and warm.

What a great ride  , the Tour of Tweedale. I done it with a mate so I never pushed it hard, it was his first 90miler :bravo:. The signage wasn't great but I didn't expect that for a tenner, having said that we never got lost till after 90miles when we were back in Peebles itself, it was a case if there's no signage at a junction telling you to turn, keep on going. The food stops were great, not as good as the KL but were excellent nonetheless and I think they were better positioned. Out of the Sportives I've done I rank it number 2 for the food  The ride was also timed which I wasn't expecting either. My mate was too late in registering like others on the forum but he emailed the organiser and they said it was fine to chum me. There wasn't any hassle at the feed stations for him either the folk were very friendly and served him fine and he had lots of pies and cakes. I think I must of put on weight doing that ride ;) Garmin say it used up 4,323 calories but I must of ate twice that :becool:Tthe weather was fab too. I stopped near the top of the climb to take this quick snap of my mate too, it gives you an indication of the weather :sun: It was nice to do the Swire in the dry as well, I never realised there was a fab tower up there too.

It may have been little blowy in places but it was the perfect temperature, maybe should have put some cream on my face though.

Too sum it up what a fab ride

The classic ride of the year, the Hell of the North continues to prove extremely popular, attracting up to 200 cyclists in previous years. A picturesque route, the ride goes through some of the most spectacular scenery in the region, but is a tough test and only for experienced cyclists. Check in and lunch stop is in Kirkby Stephen. but all said and done i really enjoyed it... i think

Day off today, so set out to do 50...a quick loop on he end gave me my 50 miles.
No rush ride, been out half the day, sunnyish and a little blowy, but nothing to spoil it. Caught in a heavyish shower half way, jacket on, then sheltered under a tree for 5 mins...half an hour later, suns shining again, jacket off.
Stopped some miles in at a small industrial estate cafe...3 bacon, 2 eggs, 2 toast, tomatoes and a mug of tea...£3.50.
Some miles later just after the rain, stopped in Oundle for a coffee and a piece of Victoria sandwich cake...£4.25  Nice small town is Oundle, there's money there, and the prices reflect it.

3 Red Kite...havnt seen any for a while, one roadkill Grasssnake, a big bugger (albeit flat), must have been about 3ft long. Lots of Partridge unusually and quite a few pheasant...minus their tails, i assume young uns.

So, Peterborough, Wansford, on to Corby via Blatherwycke, the Harringworth Viaduct and Rockingham Raceway, then back via Oundle, Fotheringay etc. Lots of little hills in Northants, some quite short steep ones. According to Mapmyride, a shade under 1000ft of climbing....not bad compared to flat Peterborough

Off for a bath now, then out for a delicious carvery for £5. Makes the coffee shop in Oundle look positively criminal.

Haringworth Viaduct...you can see it from miles away..

I popped out for a quick 32 miler with a 15min break in between. It meant I was coming back in the near darkness, knowing this I'd packed some lights. They were only a Cateye 420 and a BSpoke 1/2 watt but they seemed to be earning the respect of drivers, lights dipping, not pulling out. One driver that was turning right on a mini rab (they had priority), slowed right down and gave way to me even though I'd stopped, in fact I'd swear they reversed when they seen me coming. There was one exeption, he just looked at the lights and decided to pull out, I was only going 28mph at the time I was going to overtake but decided I didn't want the muppet behind me and sat up a bit. A mile later when I was still just behind him hopefully he got the hint. Unfortunately he held me up through a double mini.

I rode out west to meet a CC ride that started in west. I then had some great soup (pasta) and cakes courtesy of HJ and Telemark and cycled back westwards with the CC ride as far as Falkirk when some of us decided to go back east before it got dark (Typical, I brought 2 set of lights and never used them :-) ) I shot back home with a good wind behind me as was home by 7:30pm :-) I ended up doing 76.5 miles in under 4:55 but with a lot of stops (near 8 hours elapsed :-) )

23 miles out on a flat route with a novice cycling friend, lots of wind, but lots of sunshine too.

I was almost completely pain free, which was amazing given I was that novice just three or four weeks ago
