I'm on a bit of a roll...by my meagre standards
24 miles yesterday, a mix of an extended commute then a quick blitz out in the evening, then gets to work this morning only to realise they'd given me the day off....well, whats a man to do on a sunny day

27 miles this morning, but my legs feel heavy. Christ, i'm losing it  Still, a nice sunny albeit slightly chilly on the hands ride in the countryside. Took my camera, but nothing to see really, so just popped one off (ooer missus) for the sake of it...

What to do for the rest of the day ? Just sat here eating a toasted bacon n egg sandwich with brown sauce, mug of tea....fancy a drive out to the coast a bit later when the wife finishes work.

130Km down to Brixworth and through loads of villages round there and back, Lovely weather, sunny, not too hot, and light breeze - has made my toal for the month 1683Km (1045miles) most I've done so far in a month, quite pleased really!

Yesterday's ride: 75 miles from Blackburn to Whalley, Whitewell, over the Cross 'O Greet then down the Lune valley and round to Scorton and thence to Longridge and home. 5700 ft of climbing and averaged 15.2 mph, legs feel tired today. The Cross 'O Greet wasn't as bad as I had anticipated and the descent beyond that was fantastic, about 1500 ft of descent in a few miles of empty country roads!

Took a spin along to a nearby town to buy a few household items this afternoon. It was a beautiful day so decided to take the scenic route home, a bit of a climb but the views were worth it. Eight miles out and twelve miles back which leaves me with six miles to do this evening to achieve my monthly target mileage.

Sounds better than my ride out it was 16 mile and only 17.7 home but I go by the scenic route anyway, if I went more direct I save 1.5 miles but I don't think its worth it.

Go on get out there, its a beautiful evening

Oh FCUK...
31 miles today...went for a ride Peterborough to Whittlesea and beyond. Riding along the cyclepath alongside the river, i can see a group of Police officers on the other side of the river, about a mile out of town. Oh, you get a bad feeling...i get closer....there's a body in the river  .

I almost turned round and ended the ride, it kinda spooked me.

Anyway, good weather, good ride apart from that, but on the return leg, they'd shut off the path so i had a detour to make to get back into the back of Peterborough.

Sad...some poor buggers familys out there...

I'm doing the Tour of Tweedale at the weekend and thought I'd better get the Bianchi out to re-familiarise myself with campy. I totally loving it although I've only been taking it to the flat and back after uni. The 50 is so easy to spin and I don't have to jump down to the 36 too much :-)

Ace ride today, just ace.

Took the day off and headed up to near Morecambe for the weekend. Perfect weather, one headphone in, no traffic problems and my first decent ride on the fixed for a couple of months. Got to Preston and realised I could get a nice round average speed if I could keep it at at 20mph till Galgate, just made it and then had hoped for a rest but got caught by a commuter so we rode into and through Lancaster together in and out of some long queues through town. I love the one way system through there on a bike.

I did stop and help an interesting lad in Chorley, he had brake trouble and was almost in the road on the outside of the pavement. Fixed his brakes and closed his QR levers properly. He was off to a meeting about UFO's and was grateful of the help, I just hope he remembers to keep his levers closed if nothing else. It'd have been nice to spend more time going over his bike with the aim of keeping it/him safe. Nice lad, I'll worry about him though.

Just 14 miles today. I went into Ashby to get some tickets for the theatre in 3 weeks time (got front row seats as well). It's just a small local theatre. I rode in on Wednesday to find Tourist Information office closes on Weds. I wanted some minced pork from Somerfield, they had sold out, butchers was shut. Apart from keeping fit it was a waste of a ride  . Today, weather brill, ride pleasant and traffic considerate.

Funny how everyone's enjoying their rides, me too. This last weeks cycling has been a joy.
As an indication of how meagre my mileage has been this year..i just made 100 miles in 6 days this week. Most ive done all year i reckon.

Same route as yesterday, albeit shorter...thankfully (and obviously) no horrors along the river this time.

Ooyargh! I'm knackered today. Went out at 5.30 last night for an evening blast. Whalley up to Bashall Eves and then Cow Ark, which is a steady uphill all the way. Then turned right and headed up a little lane that connects with the Newton - Waddington road. Another 200 feet of climbing and I'm starting to feel tired and my pal and I are realising that we aren't fully rested after Monday's 75 mile / 5700 foot epic. From the top of the hill there's a straight section that drops 150 feet then climbs again, he hits 49.9 and I hit 49.6 mph. Turn right up Waddinton Fell (last year's TOB went up here) and a painful final climb. Fast down to Waddington where we stopped for a pint of Copper Dragon's very excellent Golden Pippin. Admired a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano then back on the bikes and a last blast back to Whalley for a takeaway pizza. Legs are aching today.

I was supposed to be taking it easy today but went on the club run anyway, we ended up averaging 18.5mph for the 38mile ride, that includes a generous cafe stop and slowing down a few time to let folk back :-) And since its the start of Summer  I decided to get the summer bike out, well I was needing to re familiarise myself with campi before tomorrow's Tour of Tweedale. I'd forgotten how good the Bianchi is to ride :becool: I might pay for that tomorrow though
