Fantastic 59.4 miles from home near Blackburn to Bowness on Windermere. Sunshine, blue skies and a nice cool SW breeze that helped me a little. It took 3 hours and 40 minutes; I rode down to Ribchester, over to Longridge then straight up the A6 through Lancaster, then cut across to Bowness. Averaged 17.2 mph on the A6 but dropped to 16.2 for the last 7 hilly miles. The lake sparkled and the hills looked gorgeous. Family picked me up and drove me home. What a great day!

55 miles today, but it felt like more.

I left Clevedon across the levels to Yatton, from Yatton through to COngresbury and onto the A38 southbound. Turned off at Cheddar and carried on over Axminster way and into Wells and out on the 3 mile climb out of Wells (meeting loads of cyclists) on the way down. Then back over the Mendips and chose a small section of road had never done before to take me down the hill and into Blagdon and on to the A38 again where I turned right northboud, up Redhill, past Bristol Airport and back to Clevedon through Bashley, I think.

Stopped off at the Blue Flame for Guinness on the way home. Can't remember the village name though...

Left at HT Argies vs Germany so I didn't end up getting too hot.

in some ways it was an undistinguished schlep down to Brighton, photographing locations for signs for the Martlets ride, and paying a call on Planet Sweet in Horley, to talk through the arrangements for the Genteel ride. We struggled in the heat, having started late, although Susie managed both Pownalls Road and Turners Hill without difficulty.

We stopped at Ditchling to take on liquids, and set off - Susie knowing she wouldn't make the Beacon, but determined to get part way up. I unshipped the chain at the bottom, but rolled it back on, and thereby found myself pushing 39/17.....which turned out to be good. Very good. My heels were like Mercury's. I soared to the top, standing for the first two thirds of the hill, other than one brief sit down to take a telephone call....... The last 200 metres were just easy, and there I was, at the top of a hill I've been climbing for 38 years, having climbed it faster than ever before.

Whizzed down to cheer up Susie, and did the latter part of the hill again, this time in a more conservative 39-19, but still not in difficulty.

And then down to the Madeira, and then lunch at an Italian restaurant, which involved too much food, alcohol and ice cream. Perfection!

Only two of us made it this morning - as always though in Oxfordshire it's glorious countryside for cycling. Quite a few folk out on bikes too. Couple and a bit of hours of time well spent.

I did my first 9:40 ride with the club this year but I cheated and had a 21 mile warmup ;-) The ride was a good pace and we averaged 20.2mph until the warm down at 37miles, it fell to 19.1mph by the time we got to the cafe 6.5 miles later.
I then marshalled at the Edinburgh Nocturne and by the time I got on my bike again it was after mid night, I then went for a slow but enjoyable night ride which was fun.

Just me on my lonesome this morning, and pulled off what might have been the perfect ride. Bromley > Lewisham > Camberwell > Vauxhall > Hyde Park Corner.
Watch the horses.
HPC > Chinatown > Old Street > Dalston > Clapton
Visit friends.
Clapton > Victoria Park > Mile End > Tower Bridge > Borough > Elephant and Castle
Hop on the A2 through Peckham, chase a roadie to Bromley.

43 miles, 16mph average.

Got home awful hot, to find the neighbours (with a marquee business) are trying out a new slush puppy machine. Mmmmmm... Free drinks!

I had a very pleasant amble to Cambridge. Saw an awful lot of people, and passed a load of abandoned bike bits dumped by the side of the road. I was appalled at the sheer thoughtlessness of this, and then I noticed a QR skewer I could liberate...

Up for a 7.45am ride. I thought I'd ride to Alcester via the B Roads. I seem to have taken the wrong turn somewhere and ended up in Stratford

Did a pleasant 26.3 miles - and I'll find Alcester next time.

Had an enjoyable ride to Claydon and back this morning, The Byegones Museum, did sixty three miles. Only slightly spoilt by a very strong and gusty wind. Was in my face most of the way down, keeping my speed down to around fifteen mph. I was expecting to be blown home, but it wasn't the case, I had sections where I was rolling along around twenty five mph with the wind behind me, but most of the time it was a side wind and made me work for my speed. I hadn't been to Claydon for over ten years so it was nice to revisit the place, and to ride lanes I hadn't used for years.

Had an ok ride today, down to coulsdon, back up to croydon and around some local hills. The head wind down to coulsdon killed me though.

Well the day before I am leaving Canada to head to the USA I bump into Ranochap so we head off for a coffee.

Cycled up college, and to Purley, and then way back home. No major incidents, just stopped by a lad with a tourer bike at traffic lights, I smiled he smiled, but he probably wasn't too chuffed with my baggy pants lol.

I took the chance in between low pressures to get out and do 38.5 miles. It was a very windy ride, the first 20miles only averaged 14.8mph where as by the last 18 was done in under an hour even with my chain coming off and 862ft of climbing. The met says the wind was around 20mph with 30mph gusts. I don't why but I seem to have more confidence down hills when I there's a strong wind and can go faster, even though on most of my descent it was a side wind, perhaps I can corner better in the wind .
