Just a 21 mile loop thisafternoon, bloomin windy on the outrun but thankfully sheltered from the worst (for once).
Saw a Red Kite, which made me realise...4 years ago,you could see the occasional one, then progressively more and more (sometimes 6 in one ride) as time went on. Now, i see them almost daily over the estate on the edge of Peterborough...almost so common now its hardly worth mentioning.
Sparrowhawk swopped over a hedge beside me, i could have nearly reached out and touched him.

21 miles...hardly earth shattering. ive been cycling regularly, but 99% of its commuting, no real mileage at all this year. Still, felt good and still maintained my usual 16mph average speed.

A very lumpy 28 miles. Went up Blaze Hill near Rainow, what a killer then managed to find an even steeper hill that brought me out near the Cat and Fiddle on the A537. Happy but tired.

I was going to go on the London Sunday ride but stayed in bed instead!
I went out after lunch for a 45 mile loop, out to Surrey then back into West London and Hyde Park. Stopped to listen to the nutters people at speakers corner and then home.

Mark.

I arrived early for the CC run gave my self too much time for the 31.25 mile cycle to Longniddry, I was taking it easy but somebody started to draft me I've no problem with that but he wasn't taking his turn so I decided to step up the pace and drop him. I'm glad I was early though it gave me a chance to meet this wonderful lot and ogle their bikes. I then went on a enjoyable 40.1 mile cycle with CC Ecosse. When we got to the bottom Sleekitcollie offered me a lift back to HJ's flat, which I kindly accepted. Telemark had baked some wonderful gooseberry tart and after 3 slices of that several cups of tea and much chatting I cycled the 19 and a bit miles home. Got in at about 6:50 pm just in time to get changed and watch the TdF highlights B) Thats Only 90.5 miles perhaps I should get out there and do another 9.5 in the dark.

25 lovely miles about lunchtime, peterborough to Whittlesey alongside the Nene. (and back a couple of times)
Sunny and a little breezy, only leisure cyclists and walkers to concern myself with.
Saw what must be the largest Kestrel i ever saw, i thought it was a Buzzard till it started hovering !!!
Last chance today to get a few miles in...Egypt tonight for 2 weeks

I thought I'd go for a quick 70 miler before the TdF last stage, to the town of Crieff but when I stopped at the River Earn the sun came out so I ended up doing another 67miles (102miles in total) and decided to watch the highlights instead, ended up getting home in time though to see the 8 laps on the Champs Elysees :-)

I must remember that glens whilst nice channel the wind so I had a headwind to Crieff (Glen Devon/ Glen Eagles) and expected some respite in Dunning Glen but no cigar. After that I decided to head for open ground and Bridge of Allan and straight into the wind, knowing I would get blown home LOL.

Edit: just realised my Kinesis was 1 year old a couple of days ago that's a fitting way to mark the event

Took my new Secteur out this morning, was lovely and warm. Still getting used to the gears so was fairly slow I think. 15.84 miles in 1hr 10 mins at an average of 13.5mph. I actually hit 30.7mph. The fastest I have ever been on a bike!! Really enjoyed it.

I was going to go for a century today, but after 12 miles I decided I wasn't in the mood so cut the route down to a 39 miler round Cockermouth, Workington and Whitehaven. The highlight of the trip would have to be the deer that was stood in the road as I went through one of the little villages near Mosser Fell. I'm not sure which jumped higher me or the dear but she looked really content (until some fat cyclist came along and scared her )

It must be the closest I've been to a deer, I've seen them dart across but never stood in the road.

Quick 30 miler setting off about 6:30 this morning - beautiful weather for an early-ish start. Sun was out, grass was riz, bird was on wing.

Couple of tactical errors though, dropped my water bottle spilling the lot - fortunately a stable operative (or whatever they're called these days) was able to refill it for me otherwise I would have been a bit dehydrated, then a couple of miles from home I Schlecked it, managed to get the chain back on in under 31 seconds though.

All in all a very nice way to start the day!

I went out with the club last night, it involved a 21 mile ride to the start and then a 42 mile club ride then 21 miles home; after 39miles of the club run (60 for me) averaging 20.2mph into a head wind the elastic just snapped and I fell off the back  Can't recall much other than talking to a nice bloke on a Pinarello after I was dropped.

I went to the recycling centre with two panniers full of old plastic milk bottles, then picked up two panniers full of groceries to take home. A round trip of 16 miles, out against a gentle westerly which assisted me greatly on the way home.
I didn't overtake anyone and no one overtook me, but I did see one cyclist coming the other way.

Due to a trapped nerve in my neck affecting my shoulder and arm I have done very little riding over the past few weeks, but this morning I was determined! I traversed (how's that for a Friday) a farm track for several miles that enables me to by-pass Epping and come out at Upshire, then up to High Beach via Claypit Hill. I cannot climb this hill, although I do get a bit further up it each time I try. I just came home via the main road through Epping and onto Harlow. Round trip of about 20 miles. Pleasingly my shoulder and neck are not too bad, let's hope it stays like it!

Was looking at my totals yesterday and noticed I was close to 1000 miles for July. So I went out and did a nice circuit of the hills covering 39 miles. So now July has 1015 miles up. Saw a Muntjac on a little track. It darted off when it saw me. Very small deer or medium/largish dog size. It was a deer tho - I saw it's arse  and its little pointy horns
