Out 0615, too nice to be in bed, picked up Route 45 (Mercian Way) south of Whitchuch, followed that to Route 81 at Shrewsbury, into Shrewsbury, beautiful along the river at 0900, up the 528 towards Ellesmere, then on to Wem, coffee, panini and cake, then back to Whitchurch and home. 66 miles, getting warm at the end. Yet another break in my plastic Giant 'guards to repair.......crap roads and winter potholes wrecking the guards but with all the cows crossing the road around here for milking, I need 'em......

I managed 68 miles today, Swindon to Stonehenge and back. Took me just over 8 hours (I don't tend to rush for anyone or anything!). Coming back it felt like I was going up a constant hill, not a good feeling on a recumbent! Slightly sunburnt head, but no other soreness, so thats a bonus!

Yesterday Andy and I went on leisurely cycle ride around our area we headed for the river at Thorpe then we took this road we never been before which took us over a foot bridge to an off road track although it was quite narrow in parts with the river on both sides. It was really lovely then half way round we stopped at a pub. Today we are going to be doing a sponsor bike ride down the marriots way to Reepham :becool:

A lovely 34 mile ride this morning taking in some of Oxfordshire and Warwickshire's loveliest countryside. 1800ft of climbing including the spiteful Whichford Hill - I made myself do that one as punishment for having an extra pint last night. Lovely!

Done 9 miles today, took 41 minutes. Added a mile to yesterdays run to avoid a rough area lol.

A hilly 77 miles to Wales and back. Rode through the Mersey tunnel going there, then rode across the Clwydian mountain range (sounds much better when I say it like that ).

Then round the back of Moel Famau and up and over the mountain range.

Two days cycling around norfolk with a camping stop in the middle. We notched up 100 miles in the two days.

Glorious weather, amazing scenery, great company etc etc it was wonderful.

But if anyone reads CTC advice which says that Holkam beach is rideable - don't believe it - it's not! I don't like pushing through sand but at least it's not as bad as knee deep snow (not by much though...)

Yesterday was a mixed bag.

I set off at 10am with my 1st year uni daughter who doesn't ride much. We headed along the canal / disused railway / road along route 41 Warwick to Draycote Water. At Long Itchington we got interspersed with Solihull CC (cheers guys).

We ride at a gentle pace and have a great time. We stop at the Visitor Centre and then head back in good time to watch the footy. After another 5 miles I get (another) puncture. I fix it with my instant repair and ... half a mile on, I'm flat again. I'm now in a quandary. Do I try and re-fix or try something else?

We get another half mile where we know there is a pub on thecanal. I give Anna some money and tell her to get food and drink - and I ride her (tiny) bike the 10 remaining miles home.

If the first 26 miles were gentle - these last 10 were basically a time trial on a half size bike! I had my Garmin on and my heart rate was rather higher in this phase

So, 36.5 miles in all, and luckily I missed 25 minutes of the game once I'd driven back and picked Anna and the bike up!

Circa 15 mile extended commute round the city, wondering why all the traffic is so heavy everywhere and so static....RTA involving a kid on a BMX  near Sugar Way (for those that know the area)
Its a dodgy area that takes a lot of care, two lanes approaching traffic lights (one for striaght on, one for right turners), a pedestrian crossing, a cyclelane and a side road that runs parallel to the main road then gently joins it. Its a busy area where everything gets squeezed. Air ambulance took the poor sod off...hope he's ok.
If it wasnt for that, it'd have been a pleasure overtaking mile after mile of static/slow moving traffic.

Just completed my first ride since I had an operation on 2nd June. I've been unable to sit in the saddle for most of that time, missed a lot of races, and feared that my season would be over having to recover my fitness.

50km in 1h39 isn't too bad given the conditions. I had to get out of the saddle a few times and hitting potholes was a bit painful.

The real test comes when I hop on the TT bike
