I cycled into work as normal but today it was the weekly BUG ride, we only had myself and one other person turn up but we had a lovely ride out to Bramerton using apart of National cycle way 1. The ride was mostly off road but had to hold my breath as I cycled passed the sewage works. lol Then stopped at the pub call Woods end. What a lovely end to a hectic and worrying day

I was between two lines of stationary traffic approaching a red light junction, behind a double-decker which was to my left. "No way am I going down that canyon", I thought, and waited. The DD moves over 18 inches to make the canyon a bit wider, and a hand comes out of the cab waving me ahead. I stopped at the open window and thanked the driver. "No trouble at all" he replied.

Oh! I just love it when the good stuff happens.

I did my fourth ride in a week today in a bid to find out the limits of my transferred running fitness. The first 3, though modest distances of 10, 12 and 18 miles had gone well, so today I planned a pleasant 26 mile route.

It was pretty plain within the first few miles that I'd found the transfer limit and my legs were tired and as I reached the top of my one big hill I thought of two options. To cut the route short or to turn around and leave it until tomorrow. My momentum over the hill took me towards the first but somewhere between the hill and the turn off I convinced myself that a) I'd warm up  It wasn't really so far and I'd grovelled further than the whole distance before c) I'd ride slower (inevitable) and d) that side head would turn side tail at Willaston and e) it would do me good.

As it turned out I was right and I had a lovely ride, really pleasant down through Parkgate, Willaston and Thornton Hough for those who know it. I only grovelled a few bits and was only a couple of minutes away from my finish when my Garmin informed me my virtual training partner was on the massage table enjoying Pina Colada's

A mix of commuting and short evening rides.
Circa 15 miles commuting yesterday followed by a few miles to a local country park to do some birdwatching (shut it Fnarr ) Wasnt that much there, one redshank, a cuckoo i couldnt find with my scope and the usual gulls n ducks. Bit of a letdown really seeing i havnt been birding for a year or two.
Around 10 miles commuting today, then got the hybrid out for a leisurely few miles.
Whats struck me is i've not done much mileage since the winter (too busy, too cold)...but at the moment i seem to be flying by my modest standards. A lot of the time i'm cruising at 16 to 19, sometimes 20mph. I guess because i'm not doing serious mileage on a regular basis, it allows me to give it some without starting to get tired.

Sunny evening so a quick 12 mile loop after work puts me as the fastest rider on cyclogs this month:biggrin: Ok only 6 people have logged any rides this month and i have by far the lowest miles of all;);)

Bit blowy, but about 30 hillyish miles. Mainly cloudy, seldom sunny but thankfully no rain. Apologies now to anyone within a five mile radius of my squealing brakes as I plummeted down Edge Hill.

Flaming windy this afternoon, gusting to 35 mph plus according to the forcast a little earlier
Stayed in the confines of the town to try to get some shelter, not very satisfying but a few loops, circa 20 miles.

Looked windy in Lowdham, Notts this morning, some guys were hunkered down battling what looked a strong wind during a race.

A beautiful 70 miler down to Goodrich Castle in the Forest of Dean, lots of lovely hills and great views. We even managed to get a bridle path in, and no one really minded for a change.

1 flat tyre and my seat pin kept sinking but it was such a nice day I didn't care. Got some new lanes in as well.

We have now purchased a cycle roof rack for our car, so had to try it out with the cycles attached. We went on a 100mile round trip to Rendlesham forest and had a fab day cycling around in the woods

Did my first TT today after being harangued over the last months by Fairweather to join him on one.

So today was the day. 25 miles, Llandovery-Llandeilo-Llandovery. Weather "breezey" but fine. Borrowed clip on bars mounted on the Silk Road and off I went.

Wasn't doing to bad, when, I was passed by an experienced club mate at about 6 miles who encouraged me as he went passed. I thought I'd up the pace and maintain a sensible gap to him. This worked up to the the point I cramped up badly about 400 yards further along. So had to dismount stretch out the offending limb and then decide do I go back to the start or carry on and finish the course. Like the martyr I thought I would become I carried on. I forgot in my eagerness how little power you can put down once you have had a bad cramp, and that it's always threatening to return at even the slightest provocation.

But through gritted teeth at times and no little shouts of encouragement from the guys who passed me I eventually got round in 75 mins.

So at least I've got something to aim at now!
