It was a really nice night, so I went for a ride to Castle Campbell at Dollar.

I was expecting the path to be harder but my garmin only recorded a max of 26% and an average of 13.8% for the kilometre.

On the way back I took some pics

I didn't take one of the whole castle as it was covered in scaffolding, I'll have to go back when it down.

I decided to come back via the Cleish Hills (to those that are doing the forum ride you get the best view of Loch Leven from there , here's a taster)

I enjoyed the last one so much I did another today and enjoyed it more!

So as I was riding out I passed a bloke in a white van swearing at the guy in front turning right. "C'mon yer stupid b$st$rd move forward", followed by a beep on his horn. I shook my head sagely, such rage, tut, I thought.

Two minutes later I hollered "What are you doing you dozy old git", as a bloke squeezed past me and a car coming the other way, despite me being in the middle of the lane. I thought, that'll be irony then and grinned. Mind you any closer and I'd have been able to reach in and pinch an artificial flower off his wife's bonnet.

Jeez Crackle. You scared me there mate. Scan reading the page, I only caught "close enough to pinch a flower of the bonnet"... Thought you were hollering at his wife's hearse there. Eek...

I think you'll get fed up and overtake them, they go very slow.

Maybe you might want to wait for them coming back, they travel at breakneck speed on the way back

Great weather, nice views & saw a lot of other riders. It was an awful ride though, just passed the 20 mile marker I knew I was in trouble heat wise & at 30 miles I was overheating & barely able to produce any power despite my HR being in the 120-130bpm area

Marie Curie 10K run at Kelmarsh Hall with Mrs VC. Now that's out of the way I can get back to being a cyclist again . BTW it was too hot and airless to enjoy, at least with cycling you generate your own wind.

Well done TVC and Mrs VC!

Went out for a spin with a couple of mates this morning - lovely cycling weather once I'd settled down and realised I wasn't going to die in the heat. We managed for some perverse reason to pick a particularly hilly route with, invariably, all the hills going the wrong way. Back roads weren't busy with cars but there were a lot of cyclists about, funnily enough I didn't notice them in the winter. All in all a grand few hours cycling.

Lovely day today.

Went out with the club to the Eureka Cafe in Two Mills, then made my own way back through Neston and Parkgate, 64 miles.

First ever Audax - the Hessle 100. Rode with a couple of fellow Cycle Chatters - good company and pleasant scenery. Might have a few red bits tomorrow though!

39 miles.
Surprisingly breezy from the west so set off south to try to minimise headwind.
Havnt done much mileage (22 being my longest so far this year :tongue:) and i can tell. Bit longer to recover once home.
Followed various villages alongside the A1 to Alconbury then back north to Peterborough via Sawtry. Not much to see today..never do on that circuit.

Despite a steady ride...still managed just over 15mph average which surprised me to be honest. Not a bad first serious outing of the year, just got to build on that.
26 or 27 degrees  even the tarmac was lifting in a couple of places.

65km without leaving leicestershire - cycled down to Gumley via Gilmorton Bruntingthorpe, saddington, Theddingworth and back, hardest climb so far on my newish Burls Ti road bike - managed a 17% hill (thats what the cycle computer said) short but tough, absolutely lovely weather, just wish I'd taken more water...

My toughest ride to date. 100km and 4600ft climbing  (it did take 7hrs including stops though)

I rode the C2C route from home to Keswick (including Whinlatter pass, my first big pass ever ), then joined the Reivers back to Cockermouth and then home.

Lots of C2Cers setting off, and I hope the 4 I joined before Lamplugh made it over the passes ok (they had big panniers).

The weather was scorching. I've just totalled it up I went through 3.5 litres of liquid today, and I'm still rehydrating now. I was actually thankful for the headwind on the final leg as it cooled me down a bit.

I've also found out that I really do like the new megarange gear I've just put on the bike (34t). I just kept on pedalling, ok at 3mph but pedalling not walking ;).
