65km without leaving leicestershire - cycled down to Gumley via Gilmorton Bruntingthorpe, saddington, Theddingworth and back, hardest climb so far on my newish Burls Ti road bike - managed a 17% hill (thats what the cycle computer said) short but tough, absolutely lovely weather, just wish I'd taken more water...

Yep, I know that hill, past the lake and up the escarpment, it's a bugger.
Returning from my run this afternoon I passed three guys in Blaby, one on a trike, a black guy and a white guy - an unusual combination... anything to do with you Patrick?

not that hill - I think youre talking about the one past saddington resevoir heading to gumley - pretty steep - got to go down that one - the one I'm talking about is the one from theddingworth past the old railway station then over the canal bridge then short and steep climb to the road heading to mowsley one way and gumley/foxton the other. Never done it on a double before but made it ok. Oh the trio was nothing to do with me - only got back at 5pm - started out just after 2.

Lovely ride out to Midleton Hall by the scenic route, hot and hard work, I had removed the mudguards before I left and I found out tonight when washing the bike I had knocked the front brake and it was rubbing slightly. Got passed by the fast group a few miles before the Hall and jumped on the back, they were doing 22 mph up a slight incline, when they turned onto the next road the pace rose to 25 and I decided that's enough of that and dropped of the back, managed to get into the cafe about the same time as they did though. Over the next half an hour the other groups, and a few lone riders came in, when I looked round the cafe, and the seating area outside, all I could see was Coventry Road Club colours, best turn out I've seen in a while and a great sight to see, a special mention should go to Bob who paid for the teas as it was his birthday. Got back a bit hot and thirsty with 63 very enjoyable miles in the legs.

Quick 2 miles to the letting agency - then a sneaky 8 miles on top of that in and around Edinburgh...had a rowing regatta Saturday and ran 8 miles of the marathon yesterday so legs were pretty beat! Lot cooler today than it was yesterday which was good - also rather blustery! May head out for another 10 miles or so tonight, nothing major

Had a delightful ride across London and an eventful few miles trying to find the Angel pub at Rotherhithe. As a Public Service Announcement, if anyone says 'You can't miss it', you can and will. Repeatedly. I did.
We then cycled up to Brick Lane and let a couple of competing Indian restaurants haggle themselves down to get our business. We eventually settled for 30% off the food and two free beers. They had us at the free beers stage, but such is life...
A hasty pootle up to Kings Cross saw me arriving just too late for a fast train, and just in time to get a slow one. And jolly chilly it was too with all the windows open.

I did 20 miles on tarmac on my old mtb as my road bike has still to arrive. Weather was great with the only problem being sunburn. After being off work this week i spent most days out cycling and enjoying not having to shave or wear a suit.
Only problem now is after just shaving off my beard i have half sunburn and half milk bottle white. I now look like Richard Dreyfuss in Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

About oh 4 miles.......

To school with kids, back home, then back later, and home with son....(daughter at friends house). To school via the pavement for the kids as it was massively busy. Home with just son, on a wider road..all the way...

This morning I was riding slowly on the road adjacent to kids on pavement on a very busy road....had two HGV's slow right down..., I pulled in and stopped they passed and waved....... you don't get that when you don't have a couple of kids near you..... hats off to the drivers this morning when I've got kids with me...very good....

Had another parent on a 'BSO' ask.."oh that looks nice..." me.. "Thanks ;)", he... "how much did it cost...bet 3 or 4 ton ?" .....me..."erm.... erm.....erm...... over £1000......and it's got no gears.....;)"... he was a bit shocked.....(that was the Fixed......).....

About 41 miles...from Edinburgh centre to Rosslyn (where the chapel in the Da Vinci Code is) then around a few towns on the outskirts of the city before a loop of the city and Meadows - that ended up being 25...then this evening another loop of the city which included a run in with a ped - 50+ guy crossing the road as I was pulling away from a junction eyed me up and stopped in my path, had to swerve and said "Really!?", got a mouthful suggesting I was in the wrong...ah well, it keeps things interesting!
