Had a run out to Wrexham this morning. It absolutley chucked it down first thing but picked up as the sun rose.

Lots of wildlife about early on but on the way back met loads of riders doing the Dougie Mac ride. Out of around 200+ riders I passed coming the other way about 2 nodded. You bunch of miserable bastards! Most of them were club riders (going by the kit) which confirms my stand on not joining a club full of arrogant Aholes. I was not on my fast bike or wearing my noddy kit so I got blanked. If one was you I was on the blue Flyer coming the other way!

I don't usually bother to moan about ignorant gits but today just took the piss. Rant over.

Apart from that I had a lovely cheery, happy ride

Yep. Serious roadies just glance at you and if you don't look serious they'll blank you. The ones in clubs are worst because they don't want to look silly in front of their mates. Most others return my greeting in some way.

Or maybe you're the arrogant peanut by expecting acknowledgement? What's the point, I mean do you see every car driver greet each other, you might get clique groups that greet each other but even then it's usually a minority of drivers until you get into the real minority clubs. IMO expecting to be greeted no matter what because you happen to have the same mode of transport is just being stupid.

Saying 'morning' to people and being ignored is arrogant & rude. They'd all got faces like smacked arses. It was a charity ride not a race so they had plenty of breathing time. I suppose you're one of the ignorant bastards who doesn't acknowledge anyone then?

I don't expect every person on the road to speak or wave, I'm not that naive. It was just a shock that so many people could be ignorant. I've been cycling for years and there is a camaraderie or used to be between cyclists. I'm not going to bother getting anymore involved in this** discussion, this is a thread for rides not pointless arguements. If it hit home that much you can start a thread on it next to the 'are helmets safe' thread. I made a post on my ride today if you don't like it tough!

**Edit: that's why I didnt start a thread on it. It's been done to death, this was my ride today!

Ten miles to work TIA.

I used to say hello and try to be nice to everybody I met but a lot of the time this was thrown back in my face so now I just don't generally bother.

You ever tried walking over a large station concourse with a bike...I do and I may as well be f'kin invisible..so now I just treat people they way they treat me.

Then again if someone makes an effort I try and be nice but generally it's a shock and half the time I can't be bothered/don't really care.

Some of the club riders around here acknowledge you. The Macc Wheelers did last time i saw them and the CTC guys almost always do whatever you wear or are riding. Some others don't though, their loss. I think there is a camaraderie and if some one waves at me i will always acknowledge them. I don't expect it commuting as much but on a leisure ride why not, you are clearly participating in the same sport/pastime. Anyway i shall shortly go out for a ride.

Bad back, sore hips and a sore knee  ( i feel like a wreck at the moment )Taking it steady, so 10 miles on the Trek hybrid last night to get fish n chips, probably didnt exceed 12 mph, but nice to just pootle along, sat at a lakeside for 30 mins and watched the ducks. Nice relaxing way to spend an hour plus.

26 miles today, steady again in 15mph winds, still managed 15mph average without even trying. Knee held up, backs a bit sore though. Nice and sunny, 15 degrees...i'd like to think i caught a bit of sun....but probably didnt

I did a 20 this morning, down to High Beach for a cuppa then back home via the Robin Hood and up to the Wakes Arms roundabout. It was one of those mornings where I could just ride, and I think that I made that section (slightly up hill for quite a way for those who don't know it) faster than I ever have for a very long time. I am paying for it now though. My right calf muscle is very sore to walk on, so some gentle massage and stretching is called for.

On the topic of riders acknowledging each other. Years ago we always nodded or waved but now so many riders don't. I suppose the fact that someone else rides a bike doesn't make them your friend and it doesn't bother me. I have stopped initiating a greeting but will respond if one is made. Wether someone says hello or not is not something I can get excited about. I always ask if someone needs help if they look in trouble, and I will say that the couple of times I have had problems roadies have stopped to make sure I am OK.

I wore my new MD80 camera on my helmet this morning. I have now fitted a class 6 8gb card and what an amazing difference between that and the rubbish cheapy class 4 it came with. One thing I have noticed with the video is that some overtakes appear much closer on film than they actually are, and cars appear to cut in too quickly whilst in actual fact they are well past before cutting back in. Lense for-shortening I guess.

Club run today. 76 miles from South Shields out to Chollerford (northumberland) via Stamfordham.

Return through Hexham, Wylam and Gateshead.

Great ride, a little wet in places.

Furthest I have ridden on my my road bike so far, and to be honest I was well within my comfort zone. Great confidence booster for the NR Cyclone 104 in a months time

Ignored the weather forecast on the BBC saying it was going to rain and did a lovely leisurely ride around the Cheshire lanes in the late afternoon sun.

About three miles round trip to buy some shoes in town and go window shopping at the new LBS premises. Big black grilles on the windows so not much could be seen but it does look good.
When they took over the place they've just left they had a Range Rover embed itself in the showroom late one night. Not a ram raid, just lunatic driving.

69 miles with plenty of hills in it and very quiet lanes. Cafe was a bit expensive tho' £1:70 for a bit of fruit cake and £1:20 for a cup of (black) tea. But a very pleasant day. The forecast was all doom and gloom but the Met Office Rain Radar tells the truth. In my case it was clear the rain had finished by breakfast time. One hill had a field just covered in blue bells and from a distance appeared a magical place.

Well.... it was a bad start to the day..... looked out the window and that nasty
wet stuff was falling from the sky!. Shortly after, a txt arrives from the Lardster enquiring if the precipitation was going to stop play? To his amazement I suggested we went for a spin on the hacks....he asked if I was feeling well - the cheek!. It was only a light drizzle, and as I hadn't ridden for a few days I felt I had to get on a bike....and there is no way I was going to get my pride and joy wet!
We set off for Mumbles, where the rain got a little heavier, but I plodded on without complaining. We decided to visit Trams cafe for a coffee.. Lardy nagged and nagged that he was hungry all the way down ,so when he saw that Tramps did a full English (full Welsh was available with cockles and laverbread) he placed his order.... and as you can see he was a bit peckish!

I had a fruit smoothie! honest....

We set off again and the rain got heavier. I have to say that full guards are fab, my feet were dry and all I was suffering from was a moist helmet madam.....

Lard insisted on taking a pic to prove to the guys that I had indeed been out in the rain..
