52.25 miles (to be exact) for my today.

3Hrs 32mins, average 14.7 mph

Longest ride on my MTB for a while.

Picked up the c2c near my house and headed up to Lygetts Junction (west of Consett)

Was in two minds wether to head to Durham or take the Derwent Walk to Gateshead. Actually I was feeling so good I could have carried straight on across the pennines.

Anyway I decided on the Derwent walk, crossed the Tyne via the millenium bridge and picked on the Hadrians cycleway (nicer ride on north side of tyne) and then through the tyne pedestrian tunnel and back home.

Great ride, quite chilly in places particularly up Consett way, even got some hailstone up there. A fair few cyclists out.

Where do you pick up the C2C AF, Castletown or Washington? I normally pick it up at Washington but nect time I do the route I fancy picking it up at Wessington Way.

Hi Mark

I usually pick it up at the back of the Fire Brigade Training School in Washington.

I have picked it up in Castletown to, by dropping down towards the Shipwrights pub. But had a bit of an incident there in the past with two Alsatian dogs who live in the corner house at the beginning of the track with climbs up and under the A19.

Normal commute today. Saw more cyclists on the way back than I have ever seen on my route before, was about 6:30pm so could have been leisure riders but hey all good:smile:

I've taken to cycling at night time now, been heading out at around midnight for the last few weeks. No traffic is a nice bonus. The route i'm doing is just over 3.5 miles with a nice hill in it, so i'm going all out on the hill, then taking it easy for the rest of the lap. Distance varies from 15 miles up to 40 but it's not exactly done for enjoyment! Looking forward to getting home and heading out in the countryside in the sun.

Glad I'm not the only one, but increasingly becoming tougher what with a young family and all.

I find around this way I have to know the route really well given the potholes everywhere and the lack of lighting out of the town itself.

Anyway, had a little ride after work today - 15 mile - nothing spectacular and tried a new circuit which I won't do again because the surfaces were C.R.A.P.

Last night was a hellish ride for me, I'm not good on hills so decided to do intervals on a hill. Up and down for 30 laps... Worked it our to be around 3000ft ascent, which although not great for some, for me it was tough!

Was supposed to be meeting the guys from the local club tonight for a training ride along the coast. Unfortunately I managed to miss them:sad:

Still managed a quick 25, legs a little heavy after yesterdays MTB exploits.

A bit windy heading south along the coast but wow absolutely flew coming back. 25 mph uphill! Felt like a pro;)

Even got ogled by a georgeous girl in a BMW, she was a bit embarrassed when i saw her drooling at me in lycra;) Clearly another customer for specsavers

Just back from 46 miles from Whalley to Chipping, round the north side of Bowland, back through the Trough of Bowland (a couple of sphincter-clenching moments on the long downhill), Dunsop Bridge for coffee then home via Whitewell. Cold, windy but sunny.

78 miles in total, occasioned with a familial gathering and the usual ' don't you look stupid in those tights?'

45 miles on a long roundabout trip from Clevedon to Nunney, near Frome taking in the delights of Cheddar and Wells and nearly Shepton Mallet!

A very happy birthday to my 2-year old nephew, a few glasses that literally evaporated before me, before a mad rush over the Mendips back on the normal, straight as the crow flies, way back home with the May sunset breathing down my legs. Made it, just about, just shy of 8.45.
