A superb steady 70 miler over hill and down dale in glorious conditions and in very quiet lanes today. Just what pedalling is all about, including the fruit cake and Tea at the cafe stop. I'm nicely cream crackered now and hoping for a nice din dins soon.

Wanted a quick 20mile loop around Southend this morning, as I had Beefy's Chelmsford 4 mile walk at lunchtime & getting the Eurostar to Paris this evening. However, I nearly missed everything as I nearly got hit by an out of control car. As I approached a tight bend an oncoming car was coming too fast (30+ mph - should be 20mph max) and hit a road sign and veered across lanes I was only going slow(14mph) as the previous car was going way too fast so I slowed as a precaution. Well the out of control car was heading straight for me and I had no where to go , if I went right onto his lane then I was worried he tried to stay on the road & take me out; if I went left to get off the road that was the direction he was heading. Thankfully, I stopped he saw me and he rammed straight into a parked car.
It didn't look as though he'd stop as he went down the road 500yards but he stopped, came running back and my anger took over. I gave him what for: widowed wife, 3 kids without a dad, killed himself, killed his mate, reminded him that he was in charge of a lethal weapon, etc.
And to think I go out early 7am to avoid idiot drivers but I'm still here and enjoying a cool beer....

Quick blast round the Gower on the new bike. Was cold when we set off, but by the time we'd stopped at the Compass Cafe it was scorching!

Have to say that the bike was quite bit quicker than the Silk Road!:thumbsup:

Took the wife to Ashbourne for the weekend. Glorious weather for April! On Saturday we did the Tissington Trail. 13 miles each way was just perfect for our level and we pottered along at a nice easy pace. Today we did a gently recovery 8 miles around Carsington Water. Fantastic weekend together, which needs to be repeated a few times over the summer and with a steady increase in mileage.

I haven't posted in here for ages, it's not because I haven't been riding though.

Nice today it was, first non-legwarmer ride this year. 55-ish miles Watford to Wing via Mentmore and back. Cake and coffee in a cafe (new one for me) near the canal close to Cheddington.

Saturday morning campsite to Hythe and back 10 miles round trip.
Saturday afternoon circular trip of about 8 miles from the campsite.
Sunday Littlestone to Dungeness and back maybe 9 or 10 miles.

I love Romney Marsh - it's flat and there wasn't much breeze this weekend...

Very enjoyable ride to Earlswood today. The sun was shining, it was warm enough to leave the winter jacket and overshoes behind, the birds were singing, there were spring flowers and blossom on the verges and in the trees. And I bumped into an old friend I hadn't seen for about eight years, rode with them for about an hour catching up on the gossip. Met up with the club at Earlswood and rode back with the family group, 60 enjoyable miles in all. The only spoiler was that there was a faller on the fast group, I haven't heard the details, we were leaving as the group was pulling in.
