Very enjoyable ride to Earlswood today. The sun was shining, it was warm enough to leave the winter jacket and overshoes behind, the birds were singing, there were spring flowers and blossom on the verges and in the trees. And I bumped into an old friend I hadn't seen for about eight years, rode with them for about an hour catching up on the gossip. Met up with the club at Earlswood and rode back with the family group, 60 enjoyable miles in all. The only spoiler was that there was a faller on the fast group, I haven't heard the details, we were leaving as the group was pulling in.

I have just heard that Mark has 3 broken ribs and road rash. He's going to be off the bike for about eight weeks, Hit a pot hole.

61 miles. 'So what', I hear you say...

so what indeed. Except that I was accompanied by the one I love.

That's the way to do it.

33 miles for me too. Warm, sunny, only slightly breezy. Just moved house and am discovering the absolutely phenomenal countryside I've moved close too. And the hills :-s Amazing though. I'm now so incredibly hungry continuously. The joys of riding means I can eat and eat and eat and eat and... still eat more, and lose weight. Yippeee!!

Lovely run out to Dunham Massey to meet up with my brother and his family for a picnic. Very fast run without even trying, slower into a head wind on the way back through Ashley and Mobberley. Got overtaken towards the end by a group from Macclesfield Wheelers said hello on their way through. Lovely weather and ride as a whole.

Oh wow what a fantastic day out we had!!!!!

Did an EPIC mtb ride in the Berwyn mountains which resulted in 32 miles and 5,700ft climbing. The ride was a stunner and had absolutely everything - fast rocky descents, slabs, river beds, insanely steep chutes, carries through bogs, massive, leg sapping climbs and natural singletrack. I only incurred gorse-related injuries and have two very sore sets of quads today. My tanlines are underway too. Pics of the ride to follow at some point

The route is entitled cadair berwyn so google it if you want to try it. Highly recommended.

A very hilly two and a half hour ride this morning - but feeling much fitter than a couple of months ago, the over night rain meant I arrived home with a very dirty bike and I was splattered in mud - all in all though a very enjoyable bike ride.

Sun's come out now I'm home, c'est la vie me old china!

Had a twilight 30 mile blast, a fairly flat route & quiet. I light up the interactive 40mph sign as well (triggers a bit below 40 & is very usefully placed at the bottom of a 5-7% gradient).

Wow, how much stamina you lose over a winter with little riding.
22 miles today, little breezy but missed the rain from this morning. My first decent (if thats whay you call it) mileage for ages other than commuting.

I was quite pleased at first, on the hour i had done 17 miles....then a couple of miles later i ran out of steam...not bonked, just out of condition.

One very fast deflation, luckily i had a spare innertube with me....and spotted two Red Kite quite close to Peterborough. But the buggers never come close enough to use the camera

Myself, 515mm, Fairweather, Allda Pies and various members of the Acme Wheelers had planned to do the first half of the Dragon ride this morning.

However, the weather was not very accommodating enough for Fairweather and he cried off. Though to be fair he did become a very good support vehicle in his van!

The weather was "challenging"! Visibility was down to 20 metres over the top of the Bwlch. It wasn't the fear of traffic in those conditions, but the bleating of nearby sheep that was of most concern!

But we all made it home without too much bother. Fairweather even helped out some Ogmore Wheelers who'd punctured. they must of thought "Who's this bloke with a track pump and a spare bike in the back of his van!"

Despite the conditions I thought it was a blast. We must do it again!

Did my favourite climbing route yesterday on my own, 87 miles from home to the hills around Llangollen and back. Beautiful weather but as I went out early my feet were cold until 3 hours in! Met a few groups and chatted with them all, everyone was very happy yesterday  I ascended the Horseshoe pass and didn't even bother stopping at the Ponderosa cafe at the top (so the energy bars I was carrying were working after eating them), pressed on instead to have a massive BLT at Eureka on the Wirral then home for a kip followed by a night at the pub.

I wish it was always like this!

I went for my first ever club run today. A very hilly 40 miles including the journey to the start and back.

I spent the first part getting used to riding with people as I've only ever ridden alone before that. I arrived at the tea room at the back of the 'fast' group which was better than I'd expected to be. After that it didn't go so well, defeated (but not downhearted) by the second major climb and then I lost my ride buddy, zigged when I should have zagged and ended up escorting the ten year old junior member back to the start to meet up with the rest of the group.

But aside from that it was definitely enjoyable and I shall endeavour to do more group rides.

Wot appened to the weather? Left work Friday dinner time and it was glorious, but I had a touch of the Friday legs and didn't ride. Saturday was rest, and chores, day didn't ride. Got up this morning to go out and it wasn't nice, it had rained overnight and the roads were wet, it was cold gray threatening and windy. But I went out anyway and had a great run out to Newtown Linford, Jade tea rooms, the ride back wasn't so nice, a grovel into that wind for most of the time, I also made a navigation error and put a small extra loop in. Did 68 mostly enjoyable miles to a place I hadn't been to for about twenty years, a nice mix of very familiar roads and roads that had changed beyond recognition since I last rode them. And it didn't rain till after I got back.

Did a 42 mile run down the Ard Peninsula (N Ireland). Very pleased as am only back to serious cycling 4 weeks ago after 25 year rest. Replaced the drop bars on my Galaxy (Galaxy bars :-) last week with butterfly bars to try to relieve shoulder cramp - worked perfectly - no shoulder cramp!
