Having broken my femur in a cycling accident (on black ice) last year, I spent most of this past winter in cycling hibernation, but now getting out on my Airnimal Chameleon, which I bought last year from a man living in Saudi Arabia. Very comfortable and light, and a joy to ride over 30-50 miles.

Cycled around Arran - 55 miles and a fair amount of up (for me, anyway).
Forgot to take wallet, so had to cycle past lots of tea shops!
Pic is my lunch stop on the west coast.

Broke 35 miles today for the first time. 2500ft of up and a nasty headwind. Ruddy knee packed in on me again four miles from home. Limped in again dammit. Ice packs again... :-( but happy to have made it a bit further.

Lone ride today, original plan was to ride out to the cafe then ride back with the family group. I was early at the cafe and the club was later than usual. 58 miles covered in cool grey conditions with a stiff wind. But it was nice to see spring flowers out every where and the trees covered with blossom.

32 miles over the Alpe d'Charnwood, first time over there on the new bike with a compact and at last I'm getting the hang of picking the right ratio for the gradient after years riding a triple.

Cycled 24 miles today with my 9 year old son ( i'm very proud of him, he did 15 miles yesterday as well) We cycled along the Grand union canal path to Tring then back along the old A41 through Berkhamstead to hemel.

Got out for 40 miles today, wasn't planning to but couldn't resist in this weather! Overall it was a really nice ride, just the one incident which spoilt it some-what. I was approaching a roundabout at around 25 mph, i looked behind me and saw a car was sufficiently far behind me so i indicated to turn right and pulled over into primary. She sped up and proceeded to bully me into the middle of the road tooting her horn overtaking me whilst going around the roundabout! It was some old bint in a brand new Range Rover, i looked over and she was mouthing off. i was too angry (and busy giving various hand gestures and shouting) to note down the reg plate, it was a personalised one though so will recognise it if i se the car again. But why do people do this??? I went round the roundabout at over 20 mph, she was just an impatient bitch.

Overall nice ride though!

Darkstar - yes impatience and a lack of manners. Do report it though if you get the number.

Today we rode 70 miles with plenty of climbing. I even routed us to avoid the worst climbs. Lots and Lots of Wild Daffs out as well as plenty of Wood Anenomes. Bit windy at times but pleased to be back on the bike after yet another (enforced) lay off. Hoping there will be no more relapses and I can get back on track with the riding.

When plans for the evening changed, arallsopp ended up home alone. Fortunately the offer of venison sausages at a friend's house pulled him across London in a mid rush hour commute at a good pace. Caught every red light, but also held off more than a handful of cars on an open road.

There are some that do it faster. But they're not as pretty as he.

Not ridden today, but I had a good couple of weeks where I took more rest and did a few rides.

2 116 mile rides in the space of 5 days:
Solo 116: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/29183807
Group 116: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/29564747
A short hard training ride: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/28897526
Steady ride the day before the group ride, just had to make sure I did not push it, mostly under 140bpm, first time in shorts and shirt, was a glorious evening with only a light breeze, brilliant. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/29484399

Tested out my Vittoria Open Corsa's too, they run better than they did last time, they feel proper good now and not like hose pipes, shame I can't use them in Manchester as the roads would destroy them.

quick 55Km out to Ashby Parva on the new Burls titanium roadbike. Was rather nice too - sunny a bit of a breeze though which was against me all the way home. Knocked 12KM/h off my usual speed. Still summer's on its way!

Nice 20 mile hilly run today after a week off the bike being ill. I was going to have my first crack at Holme Moss today but thought it might be too much after the illness. The rest must have done me good because I flew up the bits I usually struggle on. I shoulda gone for it!

Lovely 3 hours of rolling countryside and the first time this year I've been out on a bike without a jacket - perfect cycling weather!

Good deed for the day was spotting a credit card lying on the verge - a closer look revealed a wallet too, got the guy's address from his licence so we took a few miles detour to go and give it back to him. He'd left it on the roof of his car and it had travelled about 5 miles before it fell off! He'd only lost it the previous day and was very pleased to be reunited with it!
